Ive been using this build on my necro/mesmer for some time now and its extremely effective for any situation and group in pve, but i find that im not using some skills that often and would like suggestions on possible replacements.

The Build is:
Spiteful Spirit
Arcane Echo
Chaos Storm
Signet of Agony
Plague Sending
Empathy
Backfire
Res Sig

My attributes are 16 curses 12 domintation and whatevers left in soul reaping

how it works: basically when going at a group i cast arcane echo then spiteful 2 warriors first (2 spitefuls) these recharge quickly (the warriors normally stick together and attack fast so this will cause more initial dmg output), i then spiteful the casters once it recharges this is some good dmg output straight away and if you can get the casters and warriors together its ridiculous, normally half of the group is dead by now so i drop a chaos storm and then signet of agony followed by plague sending. If they are still not dead which is very rare then i can follow up with backfire or empathy (class dependant) and then spiteful again.

Before you argue :
A) I know there is a large energy cost but i can honestly say that i dont have a problem with energy using this build so far.
B) Have a think about the build dont just suggest be a battery im here for dmg
C) I dont want to use minions they are high maintance and a pain in the arse

My Question : I feel i only really need spiteful spirit is there a curses or mesmer group of spells that any of you have used that is very effective on groups in PvE, that will be more effective than making a whole group bleed (signet+plague) for around 20secs, take around 120+ dmg and -30 energy over 10secs (chaos storm)

you could try Spiteful Spirit and Mark of Pain together, if you have a warrior who calls his targets. Or you could equip a bow and do it yourself.

I think Mesmer and Necro spells do fundamentally the same things, though the necros tend to have more AoE spells that target warriors and rangers, while mesmers like to deal with casters one at a time.

Hmmm ive used Mark of pain in earlier versions of this build but dropped it for empathy cant remember why i think it could be more useful now that i think about it blocking dmg and all ill give it a try.

Well yes i could drop signet of agony but what would i replace it with remember im not using it for the dmg to nearby foes but the bleeding i transfer to all of them using plague sending.

I like it. An alternative to Signet of Agony would be Chilbains, if you wanted to spread around Poison instead of Bleeding, as well as dealing some PBAoE damage. Unfortunately, Chiblains has a 25 energy cost E_E... But poison is four arrows of degen, bleeding is three.

I'm going to try this build on my necro. I was looking for a PvE necro build that doesn't use minions (I agree, they take way too much effort for their damage output), and here it is. Thanks.

Try Suffering+Arcane Echo+Feast of Corruption{E} for nuking. After rez signet that leaves 4 spots open for other stuff. I think I just used degens with this but forgot. One thing I do remember though is how effective it is at nuking, as in very highly effective. 16 curses is fun because the degens last close to 40 seconds.

Putrid Exp, Mark of Pain, Sould Barbs, Weaken Armor they all work with this too. Malign Intervention+Veratas Gaze+Death Nova works. Really depends on the group and targets. Any Fleshy targets I'd take Disease.

FOC can beat Spiteful generally for PvE. The spiteful guy always dies and you wait around for a recharge.

Hmmm... FoC isnt exactly an easy skill to cap. Its in the middle of nowhere. I unlocked it with faction :S it was much easier.

my build

Spite
A.Echo
Parasitic bond
Suffering
Putrid Explosion
Well of Suffering/Profane, depends on type of mobs
Shadow of fear
ResSignet

FOC can beat Spiteful generally for PvE. The spiteful guy always dies and you wait around for a recharge. Feast of Corruption takes too long to recharge.. Even without the archane echo, you can cast another spiteful spirit before it even runs out. For PvE, spiteful spirit is simply superior. I second the motion for mark of pain, it's a great skill.
