I'd say wait, actually. The official site promised that they'd showcase the entrants and I'd hope that includes the runners up as well. I remember with the Battle Report contest there were copyright issues with people posting their submitted stories so until we here from ANet - that they're not going to publish the entries or that it's okay for peopel to release them on their own - I'd say just hold off on things.

But, congratulations, Weezer, to the winners, and to every one else who entered. That takes a lot of confidence, I know. I can't wait to see those entries, but I also can't wait to see what those talented folks in the graphics department do with them.

hmm, i would like to see the winner pieces soon...

I also want to see some people's entries that didn't win... so if you did enter and didn't win, i would like to see it anyway.

anyway, i'd glady post mine but i have no scanner, and if i did it wouldn't do me any good cause i can't find the copy i made of it (drew it with pencil and then photocopied it so it wouldn't smudge)

yeah you prob spelled words with our bodys when we wernt looking and correction- i didnt get killed cause...I WAS LOCKED OUT OF THE GATE!!! lol

We're definitely going to get those images scanned and posted next week. I'm eager for you guys to see them all. Talk about variety! From swords and roses to... beer mugs? What can I say -- I didn't vote myself (to keep things ultra fair and impartial 'n' stuff) but the Guild Wars Team went crazy for the notion. They loved this contest -- inspires me to want to do another one for the artists amongst us. (Not to mention there are a couple of pieces that I think I'm going to put on my office walls, so I get "contest satisfaction for the fans" with "splendid office decor for Gaile" all in one. )

The next contest will invite e-mailed entries. Doesn't that make those of you on distant shores feel better? The emblem art was definitely best received by mail -- I would do it again that way. But for the next concept *bites tongue to keep secret* I'm going email.

I wanted to make sure that all of you knew that we're always looking for cool new contest ideas. Something that's great in any game; something that's terrific for Guild Wars alone. What would you like to do for a contest? Please send me an email (community address works), PM, or even post a forum post, if you wish. I'm here often (even if mostly reading and only posting a bit now and then) so I'll be sure to see you ideas.

I know this doesn't exactly fit into the "art" category.. but one thing I've kept at the back of my head for a while.. can we have a contest to continue the "lore" short stories on the main website? (only if there isn't anyone planning to continue them )

I remember being rather sad that the stories dropped off all of a sudden.. and there are so many other areas not introduced! I think.. if it was a contest.. I wouldn't want a typical "give me your best fanfiction" contest. I would want it to follow in the footsteps of the stories that are currently there; namely, the stories submitted should be very short and serve as a sort of personal, intimate glimpse into one part of the storyline. And, of course! Most importantly, it should have those awful, but ingenius cliff-hangers that every one of those lore stories have.. so that it keeps in the same dramatic pattern that leaves us drooling for more.


And of course, congratulations on the designs to all the winners/honorable mentions. I saw a few of the designs being posted in various places, and I'm really impressed (especially the rising phoenix)! Thanks for making such great designs

I've prodded Jess a few times as to when we'll get a new installment, and he has assured me that we'll get a new chapter... someday. Almost all of the lore/story, in game or otherwise, comes from him .. so as you can imagine, he's pretty busy, especially with the release date approaching ever faster. The next time I see him, i'll pass on that more people are looking forward to the next installment - i'm sure he'll be glad to hear it.

Yay! I'll definitely be looking forward to it And please let him know that the cliff-hangers are the best? You simply can't beat that "we're being being stalked" line.. creeps me out every time.

i pmed my idea to gaile but ill just throw it out here for anyone to say that wont work or something, theres actually 2.

1) you have a contest for people to creat weapons for each profession. so there would be 6 winners. and you would have to draw the weapon, give its hidden stats, stats, its name, any bounses it gives, ext.. this would not only limit the contest to people who can draw amazing. but also people who can make reasonable weapons.

2) making a gvg or tombs map. there would only be one winner and they would have to draw the map from an over head view, list all the details, tell wheather its king of the hill ext... tell where if there are any catas or anything else

these seem like big deal things like a gvg map, but if its like the emblem contest and all those artsist and ppl enter you could get some cool weapons/maps

yeah i wish they would show our non-cool-ifyed-by-A.Net honorable mentions. i'm sure some of those were pretty good.
