Does your weapon's requirement influence how much damage you do, as long as you at least meet the requirement of your weapon?

No rumors or speculation please, just facts.

Basically, as long as you meet the requirement of the weapon, the requirement level does not affect base damage. What level you do have in the weapon attribute does though.

Okay, question 2, then, for non-melee, non-bow weapons, like wands and staves, does your level in the weapon's attribute, say, divine favor, influence the amount of damage you do?

Nope. As long as you meet requirements, it scales up based on level.

The damage on weapons has a range, like 15-22 for a max damage sword. If this sword requires 9 swordsmanship, you will get 15 damage if you have 9 swordsmanship. It scales up toward the max damage number as you increase level, generally reaching 100% at about 12 attribute points. At 16, you will get about 115% of the max number.

This can't be right. Is it?

It could be...the way he puts it is kinda confusing. The range is just the randomly calculated damage; at lvl 12 weapon level, you do 100% of stated damage against a target with AL 60. But, the damage is still randomly picked, between 15 and 22. As long as you meet the base requirements, the game will calculate the weapon's damage at the stated one, in this case 15-22. Just read Ensign's guide.

I did a search on this and this is the most recent thread. My apologizes if it irks someone that I rezzed a month old thread.

I read the guide in the link above and I'm still muddled.

If I understood this correctly, it doesn't make any difference in what the requirement is as long I meet it?

For instance I have:

Godly Sword of Noobiness and 12 Swordsmanship...

Suppose the Sword have req of 12 Swordsmanship, I'd inflict the same damage just as I would if the Sword had the req of 8 Swordsmanship?

In other words, the req does not affect the damage as long I meet it (or is above it)?

One other question - what's lowest requirement a max dmg weapon can have?

Some say you get more chance of a critical hit if you do over the req of your weapon.. but i beleive this has been proved wrong.. the more you have in your attributes is more chance of a critical hit. Lower Req is more of a trading aspect than technical really i think.

have?
Assuming that you had the same amount of attribute points in swordsmanship, then yes you would be doing the same amount of damage.

Yep so if you make the requirement you're okay.
I've heard req. 7, but 8 is the lowest I've seen.

I read the link too, but have 1 more question:

Swordsmanship says it increases your normal attack damage with a sword, so using a req 8 sword with level 8 swordsmanship does less damage than using an 8 req sword with 16 swordsmanship.

Is this the same with a req8 fire wand? Once you meet the 8 Fire requirement, does pumping Fire magic up to 16 increase its damage?
