Leavers ... a possible fix
hopcraft
In several areas, both pve and pvp, you can run into trouble when someone quits your party. This can obviously spell doom for any serious match or long quest, whether the quit was due to legitmate or illegitimate reasons.
Although henchmen aren't perfect, they are always available. Why not have a rule that goes something like:
10 seconds after someone leaves, bring in a henchman
they will be of the same class
they will have the same death penalty and base health remaining
they will have the same exhaustion and base energy remaining
I doubt you could exactly duplicate the skill set (although if you could it would be neat), and you certainly are going to get the AI rather than a human (I realize this could be better or worse); but even the basic henchies that are in the pve/guild areas would be a whole lot better than nothing.
The nice thing here is this can apply everywhere ... random arenas, gvg battles (presumably quits here are computer related), quests, anything.
What say you, good people?

If even a simple henchie replacement for leavers/quitters was implemented in this game, I might actually consider joining human groups again. A big /signed from me.

Oh, and they could duplicate the skill set...they do that already with the doppelganger.
They can even keep the name/appearance of the character that left, and merely tag (bot) or something after the name when replaced.

I had actually hoped they would implement this in the last update (apparently not )

Cool idea, but the same skills .... can cause bugs maybe, well we'll see ;p
A henchmen from the same class(same level) would be good ;p
Because if a tank quits the whole balance of the team will disappear and that will cause the rest of the people to die, unless there is an equal replacement for that quitter.

Yep, good idea. Seen it mentioned before, but it certainly doesn't hurt to bring it up again.
Something else A.Net need to do is fix the damn warrior AI. Currently, they sprint right into mobs of enemies without any intervention from players. Henchmen are programmed to attack if you do, but warriors attack regardless of what the player does.
Ideally, we'd have a rejoin option as well for when we lag out, whereby the henchmen replacement would be kicked out and the player brought back into the game. Obviously within a sensible timeframe (3 mins or so).

and that should be an instant replacement, not after when you pass thru a new area. A hench which is the same class as the primary of the ppl who left would suffice, no need to copy all his skills. u know the doppleganger can be really dumb sometimes.

... I'm not sure about the same skill set idea though... i'd be happy with just having Stefan instead of nobody.

Im not sure if its possible to copy the leavers exact skillbar seeing as it require some sort of good data memory management everytime a player enters an instance. Still a henchie to replace a leaver is a good idea.
Just dont make it ten seconds more like 5 seconds...
Another thing Id like implemented:
Leaders ability to invite an outsider into the instance. Therefore a Leader could possibly invite a mate, guild or just advertise for a needed person then invite them and the person can "link" into the instance. Far-fetched I know. But would be a nice addition.

I think this is one of the biggest problems facing PvE - and this solution would make a huge difference.
Hell, I think this is one of the reasons everyone is always RUSHING, and not taking in the sights, never chatting, etc; because they know the longer they take, the more chance there is someone will drop/leave and the chain reaction will begin.
Instant henchie replacement, at the very least, is a must. If a dropped person could reconnect and replace the henchie after that, well that would be a godsend.

I would like this because I always end up getting err=7, I log back in and the team will start swearing me out. This could solve the problem easily.

Good idea though I would want to be able to rejoin back into a mission or quest because sometimes I get the error=7 thingy when playing Guild Wars. The team leader should be able to choose if the henchie comes in or not. I dont know about having dp and things like that for henchie because henchies are not that smart so they are already at a disadvantage anyways. Good idea though.

You know what I mean? Like a rejoin button or something.

Locking this thread, and all the other "Fix Leavers" threads in Sardelac, for the time being. When the new system is revealed, we'll look at it, look at these threads, and see if they need reopened or not. Until then, let's all be patient and see what we get.
