Like, on the www.guildwars.com site (dont remember wich part) they said that when you buy Chapter 2 people can mingle in *common-spots* where chapter 1 is? Does this mean that when you buy Chapter 2 you can go back to Augory and farm? Or to the trolls and farm there? Or do thunderhead again? Just *mingle* with other players an sit around and talk in common spots than going outside with chapter 1's???

I'm guessing it'll work like this:

If you own chapter one only, you'll be able to gon anywhere in the current world.

If you own chapter 2 only, you'll be able to go to tombs, and maybe team arenas, and everywhere in the new world.

If you own both, you can go anywhere with any char.
They have been saying consistently that the new skills and new professions will be completely balanced (or as balanced as possible) a la Magic: The Gathering (new cards give new options not necessarily better options), so I would be surprised if you couldn't go back and do old missions with the new skills and professions.

you can download the entire game as-is, and buy an account online with no need to leave your house at all

i'm reasonably confident that it'll be the same thing for chapter two: release a new box, but also allow it to be downloaded and purchased online

Perhaps you haven't been paying attention to all the reports over the last few months where they have said that it won't be free.

But you won't need a CD... you don't need a CD for Guild Wars. You can download it right off the main site.

You can download it here: http://guildwars.com/products/chapter1.html

Heh. You still need to pay for an account, but you don't have to actually go pick up the game from a store.

Technically what you need to pay for is the CD-key. You can purchase these from NCsoft through email directly... but you're more likely to find a deal with the CD at Best Buy or an online store than buying the CD key.

From what I have gothered, you will still need to own chapter 1 (initial release), but chapter 2 (and 3,4,5,etc) will be optional.

They indicated that "ascension" is the key access point to get the new material in eariler questions / answers. So once you ascend you will get access to it from what I've been reading.

If you do need chapter 1 to access chapter 2, they'll either include it in all purchases of chapter 2 free or for a small extra charge. I'm pretty sure you won't have to pay full price for buying both, if you want to when the time comes.

If ascension is "key" does that mean we'll be teleporting from the top of the Mesa to the planet of the Seer, light years away?
Anyway, i will be buying a CD but i will be downloading it while on my way to buy it. Why? So i can play it as soon as i get home with my CD key and i can also read the manual on the bus home
Those extra minutes are crucial!

I was kinda thinking of camping outside the game shop so i can hassle the manager to open up quicker.
Knowing my luck, i would get arrested by the police for loitering and have to spend a few hours down the station.

Personally I like owning the CDs of any program I have. It is easier to reinstall. I want that for all software I have. Norton, Windows, Movie & MP3 players,Games, etc.

I will purchase the new game 2 of Guild Wars in disk form.

Ok, so suppose it's somewhere in 2006 and chapter 2 just came out and I go buy it in the shop, take it home, open the package and now I have the chapter 2 key right in front of me.
I happen to have 2 accounts of chapter 1 (so I have 4 x 2 toons).

Now do I add the chapter 2 key to 1 of my accounts (and will I have to buy chapter 2 twice to gain access to the new content for both my accounts) or do I kinda make a new account (or whatever)?

Will I have to buy chapter 2 twice if I want the chapter 2 content for all my characters?

Maybe you missed it, but Guild Wars was released in Australia/New Zealand on the same date as Europe and America. Note that I said same date ... due to timezones, a lot of downunder GW players had their copy before the game was officially released in Europe/America.

We're committed to duplicating the same-date release for the next installment of Guild Wars as well.

lol, as for chapter 2 content, someone mentioned this before, but its not going to be the seer's planet. It's going to be across the southern seas on the continent of Cantha (the home of Jiaju Tai and the Canthan Ferry Captain found in Lion's Arch). Also, personal speculation, but the Xunlai agents might be from Cantha too.
In fact, that may be how they set up an auction house, they could have a faction (guild?) of Xunlai in Cantha that are auctioneers. Or, for plot, there could be a rogue branch of corrupt Xunlai that you have to dispatch or something of the sort.
My bet? It's going to be China/Japan/Korea-esque land. Can you say Panda pet? Hidden god? Great Wall of Cantha screenies? lol.....gotta love the suspense

I assume all that chapters that follow will work like "Expansion Packs". You have to buy Chapter 1, but you can skip around and buy chapters 4, 7, and 2300 for instance

GW is not easily available in Australia. You can't get it at most games shops, only at EB I think. There is a grand total of about 2-3 EBs in the whole of Australia. Everyone I know that has it had to get it from a gray importers on Ebay.
I run a small lan games centre, and I get requests for it all the time, which I pass onto my suppliers. They can't get it. GW would have ALOT more players in Australia with a better distributor. Many are put off by the difficulty in obtaining the game in box form.

You go out much? EB stores r everywhere in Australia. I live in Melbourne and im surrounded by EB stores, any large shopping centre will have an EB store.
I got GW on the first week it was officially released... and i did not preorder it
Oh yea, i guess it would be hard to get it if u lived in the sticks but then again, anyone living in the sticks would have trouble gettin any 'newish' games right?

I'm guessing it'll be like "The Sims". They come out with the original, then they come out with expansion packs that can be added onto the game with new items, faces, skins, etc. At the moment thats all I can think it will be like.

There are only 3 EBs in the whole of "South" Australia. I should have qualified my statement. In the city I live in, we have 10 shops where you can buy latests releases on the day they come out. None can get GW. I can't get GW from 3 different major suppliers to put on my shelf. I'd have to travel 450km to see the nearest EB, the population in this area is around 100,000 people.
All non EB shops which have it have had to go to the trouble of importing it themselves.
Get out much? Are you just a twit?
