Nerfed UW / FoW Solo Guide... for any MONK w/ 55 or 85 Build
adoreadork
I'm going to make this nice short and simple.
Zealot Headgear +1 Smite + Any Superior Rune (not Vigor)
Tattoo Body + Superior Healing
Tattoo Arm + Superior Divine Favor
Tattoo Legs + Superior Smite
Tattoo Feet + Superior Protection
Weapon: Anything that has +20% Enchantment (1-handed) - Axes will cost you 5k. You don't need the HoD Sword, you have enough energy as is.
Offhand: -50 HP Icon or if your like me -20 HP +5 Armor +12 Energy Protection Icon.
Point Allocation
10 + 3 Healing
12 + 1 + 3 Smite
4 + 3 Divine
8 + 3 Protection? - Can't remember if this is 10 or 11
For those who do only 1 15 attribute quest, remove 1 from Smite so you'll only have 15 not 16 and if you have extra points dump it into Divine Favor, not like 1 dmg matters.
Skills
Healing Breeze
Protective Spirit
Balthazar's Aura
Shield of Judgement or Symbol of Wrath - SoJ keeps you from having your energy recharge faster, so I suggest SoW.
Zealot Fire
Balthazar's Spirit
Mending
Protective Bond
Guide
1. Cast Balthazars Spirit / Mending / Protective Bond
2. Cast Protective Spirit and aggro AAtaxes
3. Bring them back down to starting point so Azure doesn't spawn
4. Cast Breeze > Zealot > SoW > BA > Spam Prot Spirit and Breeze
5. Kill the 2-3 AAtaxes
6. After the AAtaxes are dead just walk all the way up the stairs, the Azure will spawn and take away all your enchantments and die.
7. Recast BS / Mend / Prot Bond
By now you should get it. If you get unlucky and an Azure strips all your enchantments away when your about to face some AAtaxes, turn around run and cast Prot Bond and Breeze, AAtaxes should follow you and Azure should die. While you being attacked just sit there wait for energy to go up and Recast the BS / Mend / Prot Bond. Cast breeze occasionally with Prot Spirit when you need it.
BAM you just solo'ed UW...
Wanna know why I'm posting this? All the Ectos and Shards selling for $100+ on eBay or well maybe I'm just out to ruin the economy.
Why aren't I reaping the benefits of selling Ectos and Shards? I sold my account already. heh.
I did maybe 15 minutes of this in FoW and it worked too, not as good drops but it works. Don't aggro more than 1 Monk at a time or your screwed on healing. Theyll heal each other up the ass.

why the hell would u do prot bond...and stack prot spirit with that?
if its simply for using zealots fire, thats just silly...if u ask me...this build isnt very effective at all...there are much better builds that can still solo UW, which people should be able to figure out on their own. But hey...yall can decide on your own, eh?

My Error its Essence Bond not Prot Bond
wheel
I haven't tested the effectiveness of the build yet, but here's the OP's post with the correct skills (he typed prot bond instead of essence bond).

Why aren't I reaping the benefits of selling Ectos and Shards? I sold my account already. heh. Nitpicking, but Ecto and GW gold are very inexpensive to buy. At the time of this post, you can get 40 globs of ectoplasm for $5.50.

that guide is still pretty weak (mainly cause of breeze and the way you deal with the shadows).. but gotta give you credit on not using spellbreaker which is a waste for a fast uw build.. most of the good solos have figured it out first day the shadows were put in- and peeps your trying to help will probably never figure it out (mainly cause it takes a little skill- a good build only works if you know how to play it)
besides since the greens came out that's where all the fast money is at.. way better than the UW if you know how to solo farm the high end greens (I mean can max out your bank account with a few razorstones and flat bows way faster than the ecto drops on uw runs)

seems everyone who posts these builds has an infatuation with essence bond..why, i dropped eb ages ago and replaced it with blessed aura..why..cos blessed aura gives me 25% extra on enchantments, thats 25% extra dmg time, protection time and energy renewal..nuff said works for me. as for the rest of the build its pretty much the same as everyone else, all these builds have the same roots with minor changes, i know mine works so dont have to justify anything to anyone. hey ya dont like it dont use i say
Sister Rosette
Here's a (better) build. I haven't sold my account and I've made over
200 successful (I define successful as all smites dead) UW Smite Runs.
H Prayers-13 or 14, just high enough to get a +4 Mending
P Prayers-Maybe 11, enough for a 16-17 Prot Spirit
S Prayers-14, Can be more, can be less.
D Favor-10+ Needed for self heal.
The skills;
Prot Spirit
Bonetti's
Balth's Aura
Spell Breaker (Elite)
Watchful Spirit
Mending
Balth's Spirit
You can nitpick or switch something if you really feel the need,
but this one's tried and true.
(FIRST OFF FORGET THE 'AZURE' PARTS OF THE OP'S POST.)
They DON'T spawn in the same places, so ignore that.
Here's how I roll.
(This is essentially the 55 build. Which means 5 Sup (Non Vigor) runes
in and the -50 hp focus item.)
1. Pay your gold, get into UW
2. Cast Balth's Spirit, Mending, and Watchful Spirit.
3. Wait for regen.
4. Get just outside aggro circle for ataxes.
5. Cast Prot Spirit, THEN Spell Breaker. I say this because the cool
down time is pretty long, so get as much out of it as you can.
6. Aggro ataxes. Usually a Dying Nightmare will pop as well and attempt
Rend Enchantments. Luckily, you already have SB on, so just pop the
Nightmare with a wand. (It's weak to light damage)
7. Engage the ataxes, and here's some finer points.
A. Recast your Upkeep buffs to goad the ataxes into using their
Savage Slash skill. Once they've all done it, you have a small
window to cast Balth's Aura without fear of interrupt. Take it.
B. The rest is just perseverence. Recast Spirit and Zealot's as
Necessary, and use your wand to attack in between. It's not
much damage, but it adds up.
8. Clear the first room of Ataxes, Nightmares, and Darkness then move out
to where the Smites are. The strategy here is a little less involved. Just
cast as if you won't be interrupted. Because you won't. Smites carry no
counter skill that stops spells, however, and THIS IS KEY. NO NOT ATTACK
THE SMITES WITH ANY SORT OF WEAPON. They have Shield of Judgement,
and it will F you up. Nightmares pop out here too sparsely, so watch your
self, and cast Spell Breaker as necessary.
9. Avoid the Coldfires, watch your radar for new red blips (usually
Nightmares) and go into stance as often as possible when fighting large
numbers of smites (the -4's add up real fast) and you'll have no problems
making the UW your b*tch.
Enjoy.
~Rosette.

for a better strategy...before you caste balths aura or other 2 sec long spells, it is best to have first activated Bonnetti's def. You will have a 75% better chance of not being interrupted, while you gain energy. Once that spell is casted, bonnetti's ends and you have more energy with a successful spell caste!
Also, ^^ For those who cannot figure out what to best use for the eighth skill, Sister Rosette seems to imply youo are using zealots fire...
my Skill set...breeze, prot spirit, bonnettis, symbol of wrath, balths aura, balths spirit, mending, Spell breaker.
And whoever said SB is a wasted skill slot is quite slow...This is for when you aggro and a random nightmare spawns...now you have ALREADY aggroed the aatxes and usually you cant kill the nightmare before they caste rend enchantments. So...while still with the aatxes aggroed, you have just caste your buffs, u can quickly throw in SB, which buys you time to kill the nightmare, without losing you enchantments. == less risk of death == less % chance of losing 1k.

Agreed. Even if you're quick/lucky enough to get the Prot Spirit
recast right after the rend you've lost your 6 hp regen and en/adren
gain. You're still pretty much done.

The only problem is that without the -50 focus you're gonna
take 10 damage a hit, and when you're mobbed by smites that's
gonna be a problem....

=] I'm not even gonna comment about spellbreaker.. I solo UW probably twice as fast as you do- spellbreaker is'nt neccessary if you know what your doing and have the right equipment and skills- it just takes up a spot you can use to aggro more mobs and kill them faster.. Course spellbreaker works so guess that's why so many of the newer players are gonna use it but it's slow- really slow compared to a build without it

~Rosette. Ok, I'm using this build and it is working fantastic for aataxes (although it takes a while for them to die), but I'm having a little problem. Every time I finish the aataxes and bring in the octopus thingers, i cast prot spirit and spellbreaker and they come in and do like 15 damage to me. What the heck? How do I kill these guys?

Angelic Radiment
constantly cast protective spirit because sometimes it is interrupted by their knockdown. when you get bon's defense charged do it immediately (stops most knockdowns). if you have lots of time left on spirit, cast balth's aura and make sure you are hitting them with your wand/rod. 2 auras and they should be mainly dead. the main idea, keep spirit and bons always on when possible and if need be, just kill them with your wand/rod because their defense is weak and they don't heal much. hope this helps.
boxcarracers052
I just went in again and I'm still having a problem, I get off prot spirit before they attack then I hit bonettis ASAP and by the time I get off the second prot spirit I'm already down to less than 10hp so I die while casting.

God.com
Here: This is what I do, or the skills I use rather. I've done countless UW runs and this has never failed me once.
My build is the 55 health build using the 5 superior runes and -50 focus item.
The skills I use are as follows:
Mending (+3 Regen)
Healing Breeze(+7 Regen)
Protective Spirit (I prefer this over protective bond because its 10% instead of 5 and helps alot in my case.
Bonettis Defense (The energy regain is the only reason I use this with the amount of regen I have running from mending and this combined I really never need to be in a stance but this does give me ample time to cast other skills such as Bath aura and Symbol of Wrath.)
Blessed Aura (Another 2-3 Seconds added onto Healing breeze and Bath aura is great, Not to mention the additional 5 seconds on Protective Aura.)
Balthazars Spirit (Energy regain and the additional adrenaline is always useful.)
Symbol of Wrath (Lots of people do not like this skill because of the 2 second casting time but I prefer this over another skill that does less damage or another protection skill I dont need. Well to each his own I always say.)
Balthazars Aura (This explains itself.)
This is what I use and at the moment am not at liberty of how to use it exactly because I do not feel like throwing the market out of whack.

Umm, 5% means you take LESS damage than 10%... bad reasoning, we all know its because they nerfed prot bond.
