I recently got mind burn for my fire nuking ELE/NECRO.
however i feel i wasted a costly skill cap, since it seems mind burn is...not very good for an elite.
what are otehr ppls thoughts on this.

Yes, it's a poor elite.
The damage is average for a fire spell, except it's single-hitting.
The condition of Burning is available elsewhere, what makes it special is x2 duration.
It also has exhaustion, and only does the condition and the other half of the damage if you have more energy than the foe.
Verdict;
Grab Incendiary Bonds/Immolate/Mark of Rodgort/Rodgort's Invocation, or whatever burning spells you fancy (Mark for single burning for much longer, Incendiary/Invocation for AoE burning), and use your elite slot to manage the energy costs, or produce special helpful effects. (Such as Meteor Showers every 15 seconds with Glyph of Renewal)

Mind Burn is awesome. Put it on a flag runner alongside meteor, fireball, and immolate.

mind burn is good, however it needs a buff, the burning needs to be a bit longer.

its not in my PvE nuker, but my PvP nuker has it along with immolate and meteor.

It would be too powerful if it recieve buff in damage upgrade or burning length... you might as well not have a single 60AL equip out there. Although I doubt burning length would help.
The only buff that I can think of is making it armor ignoring (eliminate the weakness of getting chop by high armor) or maybe unconditional (become more usable), but just one of these two would most likely make this skill instant flavor of the month.
This is one of the few spells out there that can achieve more than 200+ damage on a level 60 armor in 1 shot.
Say, if you have 3 mesemers completely to shut down the averge 3 monks for 10 sec on an 8 players team game. Without monk healing, you can basically kill every single 60 armor oponent in 3 hits, and 10 sec would be more than enough.

especially if you use arcane echo with it... on any warrior, it should do the two sets of damage twice because warriors have very low mp.
