Well my friends from school have al bought guild wars, and this is after 3 months of telling them how get it is, and we need a meas of communication . can you see where im going with this? We need a team speak or Vent server (not a whole serever just like a channel in your existing one)....and i know the GW community on this fourm would be more than willing to help a friend out, or so I am hoping. If you can that would be great! I know hwo there are many people out there in GW that are the trolls of boards, but i thought differently of this particular board, if you can help me send me a Private Message!

Thanks,
Wa$d

You can host a Vent server on your own computer. Iirc the requirements to do so aren't very much, and it's not a strain on your computer. Google ventrilo and you should be able to find the website. From there, go to download and download both the server and the client, if you're hosting. Others download the client. Read the FAQs for a more detailed explanation of how it works.

Everyone needs a microphone, if they plan to talk

Didn't PM this because it might be useful to others in need of some method of communication.

[The server runs in DOS mode, so you won't get any fancy GUI windows for it. But you can tab to the DOS window to see how it's faring during the session, and you can see the history of connects/disconnects from it]

You can also host a TS server on your own computer. Google Teamspeak for that.

If you're running from behind a router, then you'll need to reconfigure the port forwarding/port triggering to allow the ventrilo/TS port to send/recieve info.

A popular router is Linksys, which is pretty easy to reconfigure. Ventrilo's website also tells which port you can use for easy results.

If you don't mind the occasional downtime, Teamspeak's public servers can work for you until you find/host your own server. They are voice.teamspeak.org:10050 and voice.teamspeak.org:10060. Just create your own passworded channel.

Why not try Skype? (www.skype.com)

I'm pretty sure one conversation can support six people, and it's SUPER easy to get going (there is no server to run -- just a little client to install). Voice quality is pretty much on par with the telephone too

I like it because you don't need to muck with your Firewall to use it
