Hell's Percipice, the last mission of the game, has to rank up there with Thirsty River and Thunderhead Keep as bring the most difficult missions to complete. Again this mission demand teamwork and some knowledge of what lies within.

Finding a group for this mission if you are not an Elementalist, Monk or Warrior is next to impossible because of the noobie bias that prevails in the game. On top of which 9 out of 10 pugs usually fail this mission.

The ideal group for this mission would be:

1 Ranger with "Winter" (to convert elemental damage to cold, the mobs are weak to cold damage)

1 or 2 Warriors with "I will Survive" and "Endure Pain" also "Healing Breeze" is a plus as is "Mend Aliment"

1 or 2 Elementalists with "Ward against Melee" and "Ward against Elements"

1 Necromancer with 'Well of Power or Blood" and "Blood is Power" or "Blood Ritual"

1 Shutdown Mesmer

1 Heal Monk

1 Protect Monk

I have done this mission with less than the ideal grouping but its more time consuning. I have actually done this one on my Mesmer with an Elementalist and 6 henchies.

The golden rules for this mission, that are vital to be successfull are as follows:

1) Do not rush, pull small groups some areas in the mission have alot of baddies so watch out not to aggro too many mobs

2) Focus fire because of the nature of the mobs. They break down into other mobs. One target caller only. I recommend that the target caller have some experiance with this mission.

3) When fighting, defeat enemies in this order: Sparks(Imps), Hands/Fists of the Titans, Burning Titans, Risens Ashens.

If these rules are not followed the group will fail which is why most pugs flop.

When Burning Titans (melee mob, their hits set you on fire) die they respawn into Risens Ashens (Necro mob strips enchantments) who in-turn respawn into 2 Hands/Fists of the Titans (melee mob, their hits set you on fire). As can be seen from the mob descriptions they cause alot of life degeneration (fire = -7 health degen).

I finished it with 7 people, no ranger, no winter. I just happened to find a bow along the way and pull.

Honestly, to really do this you just need good team work. Cooperation. Patience ...like with almost everything else in the game. Good rules though.

Pulling/Waiting/Timing = Winning.

I did it once with 2 Warriors, another W/R with Winter, and henchies for the rest. I don't remember if there was a single death. This mission wasn't really hard in the first place as long as you pull one group at a time and maybe had someone with Winter; the bonus was a piece of cake until recently when they made the Lords drop Ashen Hulks, which made it maybe 1% harder.

Also, you might want to try the Tyrian Explorers' League for general questing/missioning rather than the Sorrow's Furnace board...it just makes sense.

It's really not a difficult mission, Hell's Percipice is much much easier than Thunderhead and Thirsty. HP just requires lots of patience.

Yeah Thirsty was not hard but Hell's Percipice is still much more easier, just saying. Actually, it is a tie between HP and TR...easy missions. Thunderhead is just a pain in the butt.

Am I just incredibly lucky then to have beaten this mission on the
first try?

Most missions that are considered hard are just annoying. You dont need to be a retard to fail at thunderhead / thirsty / elona / ring of fire / HP. Lag, disconnects, leavers, or a mistake or 2 can force you to redo all the easy (and timeconsuming) buildup, before you reach the parts that actually matter. If you did the mission at least once, you have a huge advantage. I failed thirsty at least 5 times before i realized that you have to keep to the left wall during the second battle with 2 teams. This and the monk boss are the only "choke points". Everything else is just mopping up mobs who never had a chance. And my ideal setup for any mission:

1-2 warrior
1 healer monk
1 prot monk
1 smiter / healer
3-4 echo nukers.

one can go /r and bring winter if needed

I found the LAST mission pretty easy (with henches), as long as I took it slow & methodic, pulled & killed one group at a time. There's just one place, with a boss & about a dozen spark of the titans, which is particularly hard.

The ring of fire mission, with the lava lakes, was a pain though, as the henches insist on standing in the lava (and in the meteor showers). I still have no good tactic against lava imps waiting at the end of a lava lake. In the end I learned that disregarding the viziers advice and going in the front door was much easier than "sneaking in the back door".

Although I would agree that Hell's is a reasonably easy final mission, I'm wondering why this thread is in the Sorrow's Furnace section?

yep I agree with savio.. beat hell's so many times on all 4 chars using henches.. used to take 1 person to lich for 10k a pop- that's how I used to make money with my first char.. was way back too remember people used to call me liar when you told them you could hench it, then there'd always be one person who was sick of losing there and pay up.. it's not a hard mission to beat if you know how to pull.. always hit the sparks first > burning titans > finish hulks one at time and don't split more than one.. there's a few other tricks too.. they've changed rurik to make it a little harder but it's still same if you pull the hands in front then the sparks.. then finally rurik- you won't pull the hands that idle behind him.. also if you run back after the cutscene- there's another rurik that spawns back where the portal guards used to be at.. he's by himself too- only reason I can think they did this was for people who wanted to capture hundred blades.. oh yeah when you hit the lava just hang back there until all hands and bosses spawn- bonus is'nt hard either just don't over aggro

think pretty much done with gw- got fissure and cit on the other 3 chars- best weps the game has.. I've had my fun in arenas too.. no hoh but that's cause my computer is so slow I lag hard in anything over 4 players (play on a 700 athelon slot a < slot not socket hehe)

here's screens on my original elem at the lich.. try it out the henches they actually better than 80% of the people

check this out.. works more often than you'd think- show's how many aolers actually play arena lol

You mean the missions get harder than The Great Northern Wall? I'm in for it then....

LOL. Well the great northern wall is hard if you stand there and say "Dont worry! I'll defeat the Charr!"

I tried for ages to finish this with a group of people, but the first time I tried with henchies I did it without dying. It was so very easy.

Thunderhead Keep is the hardest mission in the game IMO. I finished Hells Precipice with 2 other guildies and the rest henches. It was way to easy for a final mission.

I also think Elonas and Thirsty River are easy. At least if you know what you are doing.

I beat it with 3 people before the nerf of ER. 1 Smiter, 1 Tank and 1 Monk. There aren't many PVE missions that that group of 3 couldnt beat.

I beat that mission with a RL friend of mine and me + henchies 3 times with our 3 different character the time we leveled them up, first it was Wa/El + Ele/N + henchies, second times it was R/Me + Wa/M + henchies & the last time it was Ele/M + M/W + henchies.
Seriously that mission is a joke, once you've figured out the good order to kill the titans, to tell you we've finished that mission 3 times out of 4 attempts, on our first try we died to the lich cause our stupid henchies were getting in lava and were dying from fire, the time after we managed them so they didn't do it and we let the lich come back to the center and we took off the sissy.
The only difficulty with that mission is that it's very long to finish, takes more than an hour easily, but I must admit that the part that made me joke the most is when you arrive to the "champions area" where you got to destroy the 3 titan portals and you see all those red dots on your radar and you got that inner voice saying, damn there's gonna be some tuff pulls i guess, then you go in with your warrior a bit more elevated than the targets, you grab your bow and boom, single pull, you bring back to the group , dies in 10secs and you go grab another till all the red dots disapear and you only have the portals with 3 spectres pull left, than rurik is all yours and then lich.

Thunderheadkeep was hard??? Sooo easy for me. I did it with a proper team. We just sat by the King, 2 warriors on the stairs and it was easy as anything.

IMO there isnt really a hard hard mission, just long missions.
