Anandtech has a good article about creating a mid-range system, which is what near your budget. My personal preference is lean towards the Amd system, but this is my preference. Both system come about $1500 and do gaming well.

Use the rest of your money to get a nice moniter, but 1500-2000$ is unneccesary for a gaming computer.
Which processor do u prefer, amd or intel?

Cant beat that...

I don't know much about computers but my Celeron sucks and seriously slows down a month or so after completely re-formating no matter how careful I am with it.
