So that all people know:: the Official GwG in game Locale/hangout/trade center is in the INTERNATIONAL district of ice tooth..lets make that effort to be there as often as we can !!!

This idea has been thrown around in the EtC forum for a while now. This idea may have been on many forum pplz minds, so PODO has initiated a thread open to such ideas. Here is that thread for reference::

Long thread, short:: People think that a common in game locale for GwG forum members to culminate would be both useful and fun! This agreed upon location would serve MANY purposes such as: give a spot for all GwG people to hang out, meet eachother, build community, complete forum trades/transactions, spam trade details in game to eachother, initiate GwG events, discuss all things game, and discuss all things non-game! (that wasnt so long now was it? ) The locale will be in the INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT for overall accessibility...

THE PURPOSE OF THIS THREAD, is NOT for arguments, nonsense etc, please try and stay on topic in here!...i am trying to gather all the current ideas into one headlining post here so that all who care can caste votes. If you have additional ideas for locations and such you can post them here, however if they require lots of discussion you can use the above link to post.

Since this forum does not have the "poll" features, when casting your vote, PLEASE be clear on what choice you are making. Only one vote per person, and also give small input on where your timezone is, and when you are usually on so that others can easily meet up if wanted...

Again, additional ideas welcome. I will try to update vote tallies as best as possible (i work off and on so there will be slow periods of updates). If you just wanna babble, blah blah blah, etc etc about this great idea dont forget the other thread! Spread the WORD!!

**UPDATE of IDEAS (10/07/05)::Two more ideas have surfaced in this thread. The first idea is a staging area for the PvP only people, which is fine, so for those who wish for an official GwG arena Locale, then when voting state specifically which vote is for the overal Locale, and which is for the Arena Locale. Second idea, is said that perhaps the current location votes are too far past new players reach (this may be true, so all others can state if this is truelly a concern/care or not, AND provide any solution ideas) Thanks!

I vote for Maguuma Stade. It's a nice out of the way place that too many people don't know about or go there .. hehe perfect for a nice gathering place.. esp since the Grotto is probably always full of people anyways .. and thus hard to have a decent meeting or such

i say Ice Tooth cave.
why? because its quite near the beginning (so new GwG people can get there) and never has more than 7 people in it.

also its inside. we can slob around without looking like hobos.

Maguuma Stade, If im there it will be at GMT+10 timezone. (australia Europe server) My only char which can go there (no one else is even close to getting that far yet is Rhys The Tallest.

Considering the number of PvP only characters, shouldn't there be an arena staging area for them?

Im down for Ice Tooth Cave....i agree thats it's close for new players and no one is ever there.

Anne is right, it needs to be a place where newer players can get to it. Not just the ascended or expert.

I really dont care where it is, But since grotto seems to be the place ill go with that. Im just looking forward to having the spot.

The reason why we want it somewhere sparesly populated and in the international district is for good reason. One:: to ensure as best as possible that the GwG location remains solely populated by GwG Forum ppl. Two:: International district to keep it accessible to all. Third:: The less amount of "outsiders" there are at that locale, the more the GwG community builds/grows! And many more reasons....

If this gets decided to go to Grotto then I have one request - can someone please run me to the Grotto? Seeing as I don't have it on my maps on any of my characters I couldn't participate even if I wanted to (which I would).

I thought a gathering of GWG posters would be for everyone, but if it gets relegated to Grotto all your doing is ensuring you only get "experts" and people who have finished the game. Your excluding a whole slice of forum lurkers and/or posters who have never gotten that far in the game.

Which is why I'm dead against Marhan's Grotto - not only is that place "popular" it's also hard to get to for people who haven't finished the game. So unless there are people willing to run GWG lurkers/posters who want to get involved to the Grotto then I'd say you might as well change this whole idea to "Meeting place for GWG experts, pro's and those who have finished the game.. n00bs, nubs, new players & those not finished the game not welcome."

well, sorry you feel this way. This was not the intention nor was it focused on the "elite" forum members. If you read today's update i asked for opinions on this subject, but would also like to see SOLUTIONS if a person does think it is a real problem.

Even if it is often crowded (i never see that) it is usually in Dist1. hence International dist being the meet spot. And i am sure out of this whole forum, that there are those willing to run people there. At worst, ask your guild for help !!

I guess for me I do feel that suggesting the Grotto is making the whole idea into "elite" poster/lurker's only. Because I know there are heaps of people who haven't reached that as well as new players who might love to met GWG posters in-game, but if the meeting place is at the Grotto then thats not a possibility.

I just read your update, thank you for putting that up on your 1st page. I'm just airing my concern's because I believed the idea was so everyone could met up, and not just a selection of player.

The obvious solution is to make the meeting venue someplace accessable to everyone or at least "new" players. (ie Ice Tooth Cave is more appropriate) or have GWG poster's willing to run people to Grotto.. but then they'd likely want to be paid, and new players might not have the cast to spare to get run to the Grotto..

No comment about if Grotto is busy or not as I can only go by comments I read here on the forums. I can see the thinking on the international districts - it also lets people from all server's met up which is good.

Ask my guild for help? Sure thing! I'll ask myself for help! (I'm the only person in the Guild.. so no help with that.. hehe)

in the end the solutions IMO come down to:

1. Choose a district which is easy to access for everyone (such as Ice-Tooth Caves, Grendich Courthouse, etc)
2. Get GWG member's willing to run people who want to be involved in the mettings to the Grotto.. a price (or lack of) would need to be arranged and agreed on.

Personally either solution is fine for me. However new players might not want, or have the funds, to go that far into Southern Shiverpeaks. Changing the locale to a place easier to access to new players might be a better solution (and lets see if people whine if a "newbie" type area/region is picked.. hehehe)
