Best guild name ever

Ward Against Gaile Gray [Wa] (15th in ladder)

I'd like to personally shake hands with those guys. I smell a ban incoming here (after all, they even banned ghayskull, how could they ignore such a name), but the name was worth it.

I'm looking forward to see a Guild named "Nothing Against Honest Farmers", which is, in case some of you missed it, the famous sentence Gaile Gray posted here before Anet nerfed the hell out of any farmer and farming place on the face of Tyria. I'd like you to notice that the Underworld is the only place in the game where monsters (Nightmares) spawn even though you don't trigger the spawn point. This is a brutal way to nerf farming, using a mediocre, visible, pathetic deus-ex-machina expedient, not to mention this makes the UW ride unnecessarily more difficult for PuGs.

Divagation aside, I'm wondering if Anet is exaggerating in its puritan frenzy. This topic has been stressed to death in the past (some of you probably remember the nickname "We Todd Id" and the 6+ pages thread that came out of it), but I still think Anet's standards are too high. There's a thin line between funny and gross, but the devs don't seem to see it. If a funny name can be interpreted in the worst way, it WILL BE interpreted in the worst way.

It's like banning a european player named "Katrina" only because he bears (maybe by coincidence, maybe he always called his female characters in MMOrpg "Katrina") the name of a hurricane that recently devastated New Orleans.

It's the kind of dumb censorship you can see on american tv, and the most idiotic "pg rating" on the face of the earth.

Well, that goes to her credit then. I strongly disagree with what she said (she basically made fun of most of the farmers), but this is a videogame, and a bit of irony here and there doesn't hurt.

Oh and to Numa, I don't know how you can say that when Riverside's been nerfed to death (and once again, made terribly more difficult for PuGs as a consequence), Prophet's Path now has new, annoying spawn points for Rockshot Devourers (they're everywhere) and the Underworld is the only place of the game where monsters spawn without triggering their spawn area, thus making the ride an unforgettable experience for PuGs.

These Wa's are nice players anyway. I happened to play against them in GvG, alas, losing (head to head till the end, but then they were a little bit more coordinated in timing and deservedly won) and I can't say they lacked in sportsmanship or sense of humour. After all, with a name like that..

Regarding other famous guild names, my favorites were "Rurik Dies" (the name with a spoiler, hah) and "Bearded Ladies". Now "Dialup Users" [LAG] is among the funniest names, to me.

I actually saw a player with the name Katrina Ophelia, may have been the other way around. Now THAT I highly doubt is just a coincidence to be someone's name.

And that whole Ghayskull thing... even if it was a way around that certain word, doesn't it also have a meaning of playful and lighthearted?

I've fallen out of my chair laughing at a few names I've seen for guilds advertising in Lion's Arch. Some people have the most amazing sense of humour.

I still laugh when people comment on my PvP monk, who is named 'Kinky Fetishes'.
Aparently someone reported me for the name... but no ban yet so I'm guessing the devs have a good enough sense of humour to appreciate the brilliance of it.
I've seen many names that are quite worse anyways.

I saw a guild called Never Encountered Real Farmers the other day.
That's NERF for you slow people :P Gave me a chortle.

In honour of some of the more mainline guilds present in the community, I must point out that both "Idiot Savants" and "Sissy Boys" are pretty clever (particularly the former).

Also, I am quite fond of the tongue-and-cheek aspect to the Idiot Savants tag, IQ.

I would never want to be beaten by sB - it would be humiliating to be owned by a bunch of sissy boys wearing bright yellow and pink capes >_<
