Don't sell yourself short. Zealous and armor (defense) +5 are some of the very best mods in the game. +30hp can be just as good, it just depends on the situation and type of damage.

question:why would you ever NEED req 7 unless you flat out HATE doing dmg. without 12 axe mastery you cant hit for full dmg.

No no no...he means that by requesting, specifically, a required 7 axe, you are implying that you only want to put 7 into your axe attribute. He is correct when he says you have to have a 12 in your weapon attribute to attain 100% stated damage of said weapon. Requirement has NO relation to damage dealt. A required 7 axe/sword/etc. is NO better than a required 12 as far as dealing damage, except that you can have a lower attribute in your weapon mastery and avoid dealing STARTER-WEAPON DAMAGE.

Effectively, if you have a required 7 axe, and have 7 in Axe Mastery, you deal 64.8% of said weapons base damage (this is NOT the same as starter-level weaponry). In this case, an axe, you would deal 64.8% of 6-28 (before armor, of course) damage. Now, if you had 12 in Axe Mastery, you would deal a full 100%...6-28 damage (before armor).

A required 12 is only different in that you must have a level 12 in weapon mastery to attain the 100% of the base damage of the weapon, and of course being at 12, you already do 100%...think about it.

Try being even one level under your requirement for you weapon, and then try it at the exact requirement, and then at 12. You will notice the difference (unless it is req. 12, where anything below 12 will be very weak damage, and at 12 will already be 100%).

The only reason you would WANT a low requirement weapon is:

1. You are a collector.
2. You invest heavily in other attribute lines, and direct weapon damage isn't critical to your build.
3. You're uneducated, and think a lower requirement equals more damage dealt.

Unfortunately, I see #3 way too often.

My 13 required Chaos Axe was just as good as a required 7, seeing as I have 16 in Axe Mastery.

it seems he must be #3, otherwise he would not care about a dmg mod.

if he was #1, he would need max dmg.

so let me get this right if i have a sword thats req 8 and i have 8 in swordsmanship it still wont do full dmg untill i put at least 12 in swordsmanship ? thats sucks and there was me trying to save points to put into my fire magic grrr

anyway i have this not exactly what ur looking for but might interest u

i have a gold sephis axe of enchanting

slashing dmg 6-23
req 9
dmg + 19% < 50
enchantments last 17% longer

Although since you meet the requirements, you will not be doing ridiculously-low damage (think: 2-4, or 3-5), and instead will be doing 70.7% of 15-22 (before armor). At rank 12 in Swordsmanship, you will do a full 100% of 15-22 (before armor).

Just play around with some charr ouside Ascalon to test this stuff. Try at zero Swordsmanship - then 1 under you requirement (will be exact same damage) - then right at your requirement - then step it up to 12.

Thanks for the lesson on how to play a game and thank you for calling me "uneducated". I did know that the requirement did not matter for how much damage was delt but finding a non-max req 7 with a 15>50 is a hell of alot cheaper than finding a max with really any req with that mod. I am sorry if my post BOTHERS some of you but your comments are really uncalled for!
