What are the pros and cons of a N/R combo and a R/N combo. Also if you have played one, it would be wonderful if you could fill me in on how helpful expertise is in accordance to necromancer abilities. Thanks!

Well, there are three main things to look at when considering these combos.

Soul Reaping vs Expertise
Armor Differences
MP differences

IMO, Expertise (Ranger) is better than Soul Reaping. Expertise gives more skills of varing degrees of use, and brings down the energy cost of attack skills, which, being a ranger, you are sure to use. Soul Reaping gives no skills, just mp when stuff dies. Not a useful skill for this type of build.

The ranger has more armor, at the cost of mp, then the necro. So if you plan on taking some hits, the ranger would be a better choice. But if your planning on staying back, perhaps the energy bonus of the necro would work.

It depends on how you want to play it. Are you going to be casting heavy or attack heavy? I could see a N/R work if your going to focus on Minion mastery. Death magic from the Necro side to raise and keep your minions alive, and your pet and fertile season on the ranger side.

The downside of playing an R/N? There's a lot of em.
