Question regarding Reversal

Backfire (availability) - (15,3,20) For 10 seconds, whenever target foe casts a spell, that foe takes 100 damage.

Reversal of Fortune (availability) - (5,1,2) The next time target ally would take damage, that ally gains that amount of health instead, maximum 58.

I am curious ... if someone casts Backfire on me ... then I cast reversal which of the following will occur.

1. I gain 58 hps.
2. I take 100 damage but now have reversal on me so if I cast anything now I gain 58.

I am thinking option 2 takes place ... but I just wanted to confirm.

2. The Backfire would trigger before the Reversal resolved.

That was what I figured, 2 reversals and you would have gained your health back and have a free spelll to cast without taking damage.

Of course, this is by no means a replacement for remove hex, however, I was curious to how it would work in absence of hex removal.

The first time you cast Reversal of Fortune, you'll take 100 damage from backfire, and have Reversal of Fortune on you. Assuming you're not taking damage from another source, if you cast Reversal again, you'll take 100 damage, but 58 of that damage will be converted into healing, so you'll end up gaining 16 health, and will still be effected by the newly-cast Reversal of Fortune.

One thing to note- Reversal of Fortune does not nullify the damage dealt to you, if it's over the maximum amount of reduction. Thus, if you have a 50 health Reversal, and get hit for 100 damage, you'll gain 50 health and lose 50 health- nullifying the attack, but not actually healing you.

Freyas,

Thanks for that, I had no idea that it worked that way ... that is definately not how I expected it to work. I am sure you opened alot of people's eyes with very useful piece of information.
