After choosing your secondary profession, can you change your mind later to try something different, or do you have to reroll your character?

Greetings Andrew,

Thank you for contacting us regarding secondary professions.
We try to give players ample opportunities to explore the various secondary professions before they are asked to commit to one of them.

Unfortunately, once you finally agree to take on one particular secondary profession permanently, your new secondary profession cannot be changed.

If you truly do not want the professions combination that your character now has, you might consider creating a new character with the professions you originally hoped to have for your character.

Players who re-create characters sometimes delete the original character so they can re-use the name. The game allows re-using deleted names, but please keep in mind that the names of deleted characters may not be available again for up to an hour.

Please contact us again if you need further assistance,

Regards,

- The Guild Wars support team

I noticed the following on the guild wars site:

(http://www.guildwars.com/community/f...iday-bwe5.html):
Players soon not this BWE, but soon will have the opportunity to change secondary professions. In addition to the experimentation that you're allowed in Kingdom of Ascalon, where you can give every secondary profession a "trial run," you can now amend your character after you have reached Ascension. This means that a character into whom you've invested a goodly amount of time will be one that can be changed, rather than started anew. You don't need to recast, you can simply reconfigure by a method that is tied to the upper-level story of Guild Wars. It's like doing a re-spec, but better.

It sounds as if this idea was abandonned during beta. My question has been resolved, but I would like to submit as feedback that I would like to see this feature re-implemented in the future. It is always a terrible thing to spend so much time working with a character, only to have to start all over again.

PS - Excellent game - well done! And props to the CS department - In certain *OTHER* games *ahem* I never did receive a response from the GMs. Time and time again, NCSoft and subsidiaries have proven themselves to be reliable, and fully capable of developing games that set themselves apart from the crowd.

Hello Andrew,

Thank you for contacting Guild Wars Support about this. Due to the nature of online gaming, things can change really quickly. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused, and we encourage you to consider posting your suggestions on one of many of the Guild Wars Fansite message boards. A compiled list can be found here (http://guildwars.com/community/default.html). By posting on one of these message boards, other players can comment on your ideas, concerns, and suggestions, and Development Team members are able to catch up on what the community wants to see in Guild Wars. Fansite forums make it easy and efficient for us to learn from those playing the game.

Thank you for your efforts in assisting us to create the best gaming experience possible.

Regards,
The Guild Wars Support Team
