Hey there, I've been playing Guild Wars for about a year or so, now, and I've wanted to purchase a new video card, for quite some time.

Although the graphics are somewhat acceptable, my Intel [R] Extreme graphics aren't really doing the job for me.

So, I would like to have some input on what video card I should buy.

I currently have two in mind.

~ATI Radeon 9000
OR
~GeForce 4 Ti Series Video Card

(Both require 64mb of vram)

I'm no video card specialists, so input, thoughts, opinions, and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Also I would like to purchase a video card that is less than $100, and moderately priced.

If there are any other video cards that are just as good, or even possibly better, and is less than $100, please, go ahead and type down your input.

Thanks for your time,
~Adam

Hi

I played GW with GeForce 4 Ti 4200 (comes with 128mb) and it's doing the work just fine.
From what I know, this is an old card and it's price should be suitable.
I even managed to play Far Cry and HL 2 using this card but not with Highest performance.
So, if you want a card for GW, this one will do just fine

Go with a GeForce 9600 if you can find them... also, only purchase online where you can find deals, never at Best Buy. I can find a card online for 20 dollars that I can find for 60 dollars at Best Buy (GeForce 4 MX equiv)

A quick search yielded this

Just keep in mind, you usually get what you pay for...

I am planning a big upgrade over to a PCI-e capable motherboard.

However, keep in mind their are three "types" of motherboards... PCI, AGP, and PCI-e.

My guess is that if you have intel integrated, you probably only have a PCI slot...(thus that video card i posted would not work)

rofl Geforce 9600.. dude, its radeon 9600 not geforce.. buy Asus 9600 GE (gamer edition), should run GW @ 1024px high/mid settings with no probs. Stay away from geforce FX, really sucks. maybe if u could find nice cheap Geforce 6600, that would be great

I recommended an ATI x700 to a friend the other day that had nearly the same requirements as you. For $100, it's not bad for a PCI-e card.

If you can splurge a little, a Geforce 6600GT would be the greatest "bang for the buck." On Newegg, there are AGP and PCI-e models going for as little as ~$120 after rebate. I've kicked the crap out of mine and it just keeps on ticking. But, really, if you need to stay under the ~$100 mark, you could pick up a decent 9600XT (AGP only).
