The best build is the one you're the most comfortable with. Guildwars has waay too many skills to simply say, you must use this with this, and this to be the best. That would be retarded. Luckily it's not that way, so why don't you go look at the skill list, and reply with some skills from the warrior or monk line that you feel could be interesting, and reply back.

(personally for farming, I'd never use a hammer, but I suppose a w/e wouldn't do too bad with it)

Axe is a lot mroe suited to farming, a lot of people use Vigorour Spirit+Live Vicariously, and Cyclone when they get low on hp. It scales up with the more mobs you have.. say 3 enemies and 8 points in healing, that's (8+8)*3 = 48 point heal. 6 enemies would be twice that much, 96 points. 12 enemies would be twice that, for a 192 point heal for 5 energy, plus the damage from your axe, plus the adrenaline from hitting all those things.

Of course there are a lot of other things you can do to farm, as well.. that's why I asked you what skills you like, as it's very possible to come up with your own cool new thing.

On my ship, the Rubber Duckie

If you want to go as the tank try Prot/Hammer/Tact/Str build

Use Healing Signet/"Watch your self" for basic defence/healing and some protection spell (your choice, im only gonna guide you to a center peice)
to help either negate the -20 defence left over after watch your self, or get more out of the signet.

for hammer skills, try counter blow/Staggering blow (stagger one attacker, counter blow the other).

Remember, being told what do do wont make you beter, you gotta learn on your own

Hmm.. I don't know why I bothered asking anything, it seems all that anyone wants anymore is to copy a cookie cutter build.

Heres the setup i use, after the skills nerfs it still works fast and effective

Attributes:

Healing 9
Smiting 10
Axe mastery 9 (8 +1 minor rune)
Tactics 10 (8 +1 from 15k ascalon helm +1 minor rune)

Skills:

Cyclone Axe
Bonettis Defense
Healing Hands {E}
Vigorous Spirit
Balthasaurs Aura
Symbol of Wrath
Balthasaurs Spirit
Mending

Equipment

6-28 War Axe (req 9 axe) from weapons crafter in droknars forge
(15% dmg while enchanted)
3:1 vampiric axe haft
20% Enchanting Axe Grip

16 Armor (req 10) Shield of the wing
+41 health while enchanted
-2 dmg While enchanted

(found the shield while farming, but any shield with a + to health will work)

Armor:

ascalon helm or any tactics helm w/ major vigor
gladiators chest piece w/ major absorb
gladiators arms w/ minor axe mastery
gladiators leggs w/ minor tactics
gladiators boots

Setup:

This build is easiest to start from Augry Rock. Leave out of the west entrance. Cast mending. Let your energy recharge, then cast balthasaurs spirit. run out and follow the little road. (be careful of rockshot devourers but if you run for a minute they stop chasing) start rounding up minotaurs.

When you have about 6-10 minotaurs stop and cast healing hands. Then hit cyclone axe to charge adrenaline. Then cast Bonettis. when your energy has rebuild cast balthasaurs aura. Cast vigorous spirit, then cyclone axe again. Then bonettis again and cast symbol of wrath. Rinse and repeat until dead.

That is your tactics and attack for minotaurs, griffons, tengu, char, anything that you would like to farm basically. This is a very versitle build that can be used in a variety of places. Have fun and Happy Farming.

When you beat the game, if you capture Hundred Blades, it works twice as good as the Cyclone Axe + Live Vicariously + Vigorous Spirit build mentioned above.

You are already getting, say 16 hp per hit when both enchantments are up. Hundred Blades swings twice at target enemy and those adjacent to you. So if you're soloing a mob of 5 griffons, for example, that's 160 hp right there for 5 energy. That with Boenetti's, Shield Stance, Endure Pain, Healing Singet, and Riposte is a dangerous build.

All for a sword wielder, that is.

Yes but to use 100 blades they have to be lined up you can be surrounded like you can with cyclone axe. Ive tried both ways and Cyclone axe is still much more efficent Damage wise.

in the build that i posted, your dmg isnt comming soly from the axe. youre mainly using that to charge bonettis and rebuild your energy for cyclone/balth aura/symbol. i tried ti with hundred blades and it didnt work as well, although it did work, cyclone axe was much more reliable
