Is there like a Selling District that most people buy/sell their items at?

Nope. That's what the Trade Channel is for. Use the "$" when you want to type a message there.

ANet did mention during the betas that a formal auction house will eventually come out. Don't know how much more we have to wait for it though.

I'd guess the auction house to come out within the first two expansion packs.

Yeah, I agree, if you need something Ascalon District One is the place to get it. But you have to be quick, there is tons of trade going on there and its hard to follow. That district might as well be the "official" trade district of Ascalon.

It can't be much worse than d2 trading with people spamming what they are selling with any form of symbols to try to make it stand out in the fields and fields of spam.

In D2, only 7 other players could be in a session at once.
