Thanks for comparing premades to a 'taster', because that helps to prove my point. You want them to taste what PvP can be like. |
And no I was not talking about existing players either.
Like I said, if premade makes you quit, I don't think it takes a lot to make you quit anyway.
Premade sucks - so what. 99% of the games out there. The other .5? The premades is the best part of the game.
And the last .5%? Who cares.

jeez people. there is no wonder build, and if there was aNet would nerf it *cough along with everything*. get over it and move on. find a build that works for you and use it.

well let me just add that so far Anet has made intelligent skill updates which removed most FOTM's as well as seriously broken builds like spirit spamming (PLEASE no ranting about the updates - thats not the point of my post).
so my reasoning is IF anet can make skill corrections which remove broken skill combos, they clearly 'know their own game'...
which means that when they do post crappy builds like that, its not because theyre so dumb they cant think of better ones.. my guess is since alot of people reading havent played gw, they put the skills with the prettiest pictures so the new guy will be like "WOW i can kill this guy with my sword as well as ressurect all dead allies with light of dwayna!!", and then he skips off to strawberries and buys it or w/e
and the people who already play gw can read them and then make posts like this so we can all sit in a big circle and yell about it

im suprised none of you said anything about the war/necro build.
its actually pretty decent when you switch it up some.
this modified version coupled with a team hexing type build would be pretty harsh. i tested this out in comp arenas for about 10 or so runs, and as long as i wasnt shut down, my target couldnt do swat but run.
i think it would make a great interupter and definatly has a chance in tombs.
i picked the sword for "faster" conditions to work out the energy management with victory is mine. you guys should try it out before bashing arenanet on these builds. ^^
i also tried it out with this setup, it works better with the energy management than relying on vim for energy.

I find meteor shower VERY effective shield against warriors, just stand in the middle of it and watch the warriors try and attack... VERY FUNNY! |
It has a long casting time, giving a huge warning, and isn't very effective unless you have meteor after meteor shower or some sort of snare.
Otherwise, it's rather useless to bring to arena. The groups that really piss me off are the ones that thing arcane echo + meteor shower is a requirement for a fire ele to deal damage.

And yes those builds are mediocre at best, but half of you who knows what you are doing should know a some skill changes can make those builds work very well. |
The problem with the premades is they suck and very ineffective. Who on earth would bring FIRE STORM to PvP?!
One thing I LOVE to do is make a site where people would submit builds (somewhat professionally written builds), I would test them out, and rate them via mobility, defence, attack, and eng management. Other people would be able to rate the build. The submitter of the build would explain how it works, *why* it works, the flaws, perks, equipment, and possible 'modifications' to the build.
Problem is I doubt anyone will help me.
One and Two
THE POINT is that there are so many people out there who are CLUELESS that Guild Wars has a fantastic PVP combat system. People who haven't played (and many who do play) thinkn that this is an MMO, which it is definately not. Builds like these, which are decent/updated and not from Beta Weekend, are sure to attract attention to PvP

My point was that most games, heck even console titles leave a lot of important info out of their manuals. You are pretty much on your own. I think Sim City is the one series of games that did a good job of giving you as much info as they could in their manuals.
And for GW, they could have done way better with the manual, lots of room there. Take out the history crap and replace it with the list of skills and what they do. Not like they didn't have the space. Put the history on the website and then you can use it as a marketing tool.
But, on the other hand, people also need some patience and perseverance as well. I think many people give up too easily or blame others for the mistakes they made.

from pvp perspective agreed. But somehow I think that certain skills are just explicitly meant for pve, and won't be buffed with balancechanges because of that.
firestorm is an example of that. monsters won't run from a firestorm anyway.
