"Stone Summit Beastmasters" is a straight forward quest in Yak's Bend that sends you to a level 10 area to kill a specific boss. The reward for completing this quest is unlocking three new skills. You can alternatively buy these skills at a skill trainer in Lion's Gate, but I would rather finish this simple quest and save myself the gold and skillpoints.
However, I am finding it impossible to complete this quest even when I am 5-7 levels above what is intended for the area. The boss you have to kill is not only level 28, but has a very powerful healing signet to boot. This boss always spawns with a healing signet, and I have never been able to consistently drop him past 75% of his health.
I am an avid supporter of difficult and challenging content, but a level 28 boss in a level 8-10 zone that spams powerful heals seems to be unintentional..
Has anyone ever completed this quest? Any advice on how it is possible?
Stone Summit Beastmasters, is this quest broken?

It's a ranger only quest so why would a E/Me be doing it?
Also as a ranger, I can't remember what skill it is but it's the one that cancel's their skill before they use it, use that as much as you can and go hard. You can beat him.

I believe you get distracting shot before that quest- if so, if you distract his healing signet, it stops his heal and prevents him from using it for another 20 seconds- at that point be ready to interrupt it again. It might take some good timing and decent focus-fire, but he's definately doable. I helped a friend with a ranger kill him- it took a minute or two to whittle away his life, but we killed him.

Freyas, sometimes I wish I paid attention as much as you do. Seriously, "use distracting shot." I'd ask how you come up with this stuff, but that would just make me look like an idiot, since it seems so obvious after you've said it. Keep up the insightful posts.

My friend was a R/E14 and I was a E/Me14 and we took Little Thom and the Alesia healer. Distracting shot is really crucial to winning this match. Also, take out his minions first, because multiple warstomps really screw the party over.

My friend and I took that one down as well. No distracting shot though. How?
My pet: 12 seconds of bleeding
Friend: alot of ... Imagined burden? (negative 5 arrows of life drain for X seconds)
Me: arrow skill spamming
Warrior Merc for more damage
Monk to keep us alive
with all the bleeding and skill spamming, his signet couldn't keep up. It still took us about 5-10 minutes of pounding to get into a rythm.

you can lure the hero away from all the others, he'll go out further before heading back
