The stupid things I've done thread

oh man - I am an idiot!

Salvaged 15k factions armour I just bought and cursed that only materials came out, no runes - then realised I was salvaging the wrong armour. Sat on the sofa and sobbed!

A guildie said I was a good Healer and invited me to help with the DNK mission. I was bonding SF at the time and quickly went to his aid, as a good guildie should. I changed my skills and we set off to do DNK.. I never realized I did not change my points from protection to Heal until we lost the mission 4x in a row. (due to poor healing of course.)

I did that to the chest piece of my 15k tat set for my monk I was trying to get the a sup vigor I had on it out. Lost both. T-T But got some Mats! Wee~ *sarcasum*

1. Normaly salvaged way to many unidentifed blue/purple/gold runes. (Sometimes I need to stop being in a hurry)
2. Sold an FDS to a merchant back when it was worth something.
3. Sometimes when I'm monking I hit the `~` key instead of '1' and wonder why they're still dying and my chat window keeps popping up and down. -_-;

I know I have more...but I'm in need of more caffeine :P

Well heres mine.... See most intel integrated cards wouldnt work with guildwars a few months ago. So i played with atleast 1000 crashes every hour. Not bad. A year goes by, and now its fixed. 2 months before factions realeased btw. Im now in maguuma and i just cant stop dieing. When i get to the desert, I find out that

a) I still had intiate armor <-- Explains the deaths
b) Smiting with warriors suck!

I immediately wasted what little money i had and bought gladiators armor. Today im proudly wearing grotto 15k armor, With the initiate armor days long gone

Oh that just hurts on so many levels.

I guess one of the stupidest things I've done, like 6 months ago, was bring a R/W, and using both bow and sword skills. Genius, I know. Thats just what I thought :P

well this is something ive really hated myself for.

I was playing PvP when i rememberd my warrior needed a better sword, i asked my guild and a member gave me a nice shadow blade, sheild all kinds of goodies.
five minutes later i deleted that PvP i wanted a new one, bye bye items

1. Let my self get scammed out of alot of cash
2. Selling a HoD sword a week after the nerf for 5k to a random person asking for +5 energy swords
3. Buying 105 Ectos for 15k Each
4. Merchanting the +13 health staff I was spending all day to get 2 minutes after getting it
5. Buying 2 Superior Runes to get + 100 Health

1. Going into towns with the chat channels enabled.
2. Joining Pug's.
3. Dealing with players during trades.
4. Giving people 50g to unlock their storage.
5. Trying to explain to Pug's, I'm the meat shield, stay out of my aggro bubble and stop stealing aggro. That's why these uglies keep killing you.

Sold a Dragos Flatbow to the merchant

6*minor axe...only in Diablo.....

Err...just now I did something pretty stupid..

Went into an Alliance battle with my Boonprot with no points in Inspiration but 10 in Illusion. Doh.

Sold an Ele Green to the merchant..

Wasting 15+ dyes on my pre armor, only to buy more to get a good-looking color..

Buying 1 set of each Drox armor for my necro. I've played him maybe 10 hours total..

i let myself get scammed in asc and lost 30k due to a scam for a gw account...
the guy let me try out his account to see if it was real, but i didnt realise it was a TRIAL account! i didnt know there was even such thing! he demanded i pay him so i did. 5minutes later, i was logged off b/c the trial was over. i msged him n he nvr replied bak. he stil ignores me today..
i stil really regret it today! i gues i wont ever get my gw mule account...

-i let myself get scammed in ToA by trading an ecto for 6g instead of 6k b/c i was in a hurry n forgot to wear my glasses so it wasnt rly clear.. sob..

but learning from those mistakes i always make sure i wont do anything So stupid Again...

I set out from Deldrimor war camp with henchies.

Battled through grenths footprint to snake dance.

Then battled north for a looooong time to get to dreadnoughts drift.

battled through dreadnoughts drift to get to the place where the necro worm boss appears so i can cap its elite skill.

all in all it took me about 45 minutes to an hour. and it wasnt too difficult either.

heres the stupid part, after fighting all that way and killing the disapointingly easy boss,, i realise, id forgot the capture signet

1. Deleted PvP char which had hod sword in inventory

2. Went to FoW as an ele with air skills...and fire attributes

3. When started playing Guild Wars I used to have a War/Ele with Phoenix/Firestorm & whenever I looked for some pug groups I used to write: Warrior Nuker lfg. A_____A

4. Helped an anonymous player in HA to get his PvP Career started. Reason:Afterwards 20 of his friends or guildies or whatever spams to me saying that I have to help them too. After refusing to help because I have a life, some of them started spamming to me everyday saying "hi, i wanna rank !"!"¤"#%"#%!"...so had to use ignore list in the end.

i made an assassin. now i can't stop playing him!

1. Got my elementalist full FoW armor RIGHT after the tanking nerf.
2. Played with him a bit.
3. danced around nude in the game for a bit.
4. Logged off.
5. Deleted him the next day for a PvP slot without realizing he had FoW.

Long ago when the game was still relatively new, I saved and traded until I had the ectos, shards and materials I needed for FOW armor.

The first few groups that I tried - on the way to the armorer - failed.

Maybe partially because I wasn't that good either, I would try and fail to complete the quests needed to get the armor.

Then one fine day I was in a group and realized almost from the start that we would get their easily. My teammates were really good and we were just laying waste to the fissure of woe.

That's when I realized that while I had remembered the ectos and shards for the armor, I hadn't moved the other materials needed for the armor from storage to my character.

Since I had told the group that I was going for my armor I had to sit around and explain - once we got there - that I was an idiot.

No one doubted that.

Bought two unidentified fellblades from a bot before I knew they were pre-id'd and sucked.

Merchanted a few things that were not intended to be merchanted, like a piece of my armor....

Alright I will start with my earliest and greatest/worst of the most stupidest things I have ever done! (Keep in mind my first char has almost 3mill xp and I have 2 accounts and been playing 8-9mths and have never played an online RPG like this before.) Oh and I never had that selling dye for cheap issue.

First night of GW we have two friends who have been playing a month or two and has a guild.
Friend and guildie: Hurry up, don't bother with all those quests there are lots of high XP quests once you post. (Yeah I had no clue what posting was).

I pick r/ele and I am seperated from my hubby who is finishing a few quests.... as I wait in Ascalon for him to finish I see a quest! I thought, hey I can do this while he is doing his: Do you wish to enter the accademy? SURE!

Guildie: YOU POSTED AT LVL 3!?!?!? And you didn't even get all your skills?!?!?! -_- (talk about newb >_< He said HURRY! *growls*)

I spent FOREVER trying to find this person Alesia who was to help me with my first quest in post.... I thought it was a real person! *sighs* I couldn't for the life of me figure out why she wasn't messaging me or at least telling me where she was! Silly me

My "friends" covered the loss of the belt pouch thankfully, but I went on with the little money they gave me to buy the skills I had missed in pre.... Later yelled at cause I could still QUEST FOR THEM! *sighs*

It wasn't till Denravi that I learned the ctrl and alt trick ^_^;;;;;;; Whispers were wierd in pre >_> I couldn't figure out how to respond till sometime in post

Money blunders: Tried selling a max low req purple sephis 15^50 500g-1k for about a month till I gave up and sold it to the merch - 2mths later they are the shiznit and sell for a LOT! ;_;
Orish staff, so pretty I thought (didn't know it was orish skinned).... Oh I want to put a high health mod on it and keep it (and I do)! A guildie gives me a nice gold air staff with a crap health bonus that I thought was better than my Orish staff, so I salvage the Orish staff for the mod back and get 22 wood planks.... -_- 3wks later a guildie tells me how much he wants one and that they look like this and go for over 100k EASY... *sighs* I tried selling it in ascalon for 3k but I had no buyers wanting an earth staff! DUH! So I decided that the health mod would be nice... STUPID SKINS and their RARITY!!! *growls*

I tried selling a VERY nice fire wand for 3k for about an hour, only to GIVE it to some newb cause I got tired of selling it and having said "newb" message me and go: Someone just gave me 10k for that wand....
Yeah yeah BITE ME!
Was checking the price on a rune to sell and accidently bought it instead -_- Then I had TWO to sell *growls*

I wasn't the WORST stupid newb but I have done a ton of stupid things, those just happen to be the worst of them.

Heck I still do stupid stuff, its part of life =P OH I was at the end of a high lvl mission that I took henchies to do, only to move my foot and hit the power switch! >_<
And clicking the little red X in the corner while not paying attention sucks >_> Especially when in a mission or a quest

A friend of mine needed 2 more 1.5k armour pieces to complete his set, so I offered to give him 3k. He came into town and was in amongst several other people. I clicked on him and opened the trade window, put 3k in there and after a bit of a delay, it accepted.

Then the shock came when I noticed it said 'You have given (thewrongpersonname) 3000 gold'. I realised I had given 3k gold to the wrong person

I have done a lot of stupid things, here are a few:
* salvaging some guys fissure armor just so I can see if you get ectos outta it
* dyeing nublet ascalon armor black+black+red
* selling various 100k+ weaps to merchant
* salvaging my own fissure helm by accident
* logging out before THK movie was ended (before u see the swords) - had to do it once more

And other misc. shit.

But the most stupid - writing it all here and making myself look like an idiot

Getting trigger happy during a lagspike and accidentally merching my 223 ectos and 17 shards

Deleting my pvp tank when I forgot he had kanaxais edge on him back when it was worth 100k

Accidently selling my gold sephis axe to merch. Killing a boss that took 1hr to find and forgetting to bring cap sig.

ran all the way to fow and forgetting to bring material... twice...

buying a wausauis (sp?!) faith ig for 2k and saw a bo on guru 5 min later for 1k

i uhh bought my brother the wrong fow armor, he wanted ascetics, i bought him judge's or something i think, i had like 100 of most materals in my inventory that day, yea he got pissed and i had to buy him another set...i just used his account while he was doing something else

1. I did not even know the space bar is an attack button till I read your post.

2. Did Arborstone using a sword while my axe mastery was 13 and my swordsmanship was 0.

3. Taking on 10 shadow warriors while my team mates pulled back. I did not notice they had all pulled back. My last words were, "Where is everybody?"

4. Customizing a Victos Axe before realising its rubbish.

Thats all for now hehe.

1. Going to cap an elite without bringing the signet of capture.. happened to me 3 times already.. worst time was shield of judgement for my monk.. took me over an hour to get to the boss, one more hour to kill him (had a party of 4--> Me and 3 henchies.. rest of the party fled..) had 60 death penalty.. and just took out one guy at the time.. till I got to the boss.. realising he is a monk, so am I, and my henchies where monk hench, ranger hench and illusion hench...sigh..

2. Selling some crappy weaponry with great upgrades (+30 health on axe for instance..) far to cheaply (before realising you can actually salvage mods..)

3. Buying non-stacking armor pieces.. never make that mistake again..

4. soloing the uw with my mesmer, only to realise I didn't change my skill and attribute set-up.. 1k down the drain sir..

5. Starting my gw experience with an assasin.. deleted her after 2 days cause I couldn't get into any parties.. (even though she did rock!! I remade her after a month or 2, just to show the world that an assasin in the right hands can be more usefull then any wammo tank)

6. Taking a shiro's blade when I finished Factions.. (was lucky some noob wanted to trade his exalted aegis and a nice sword (maxed, req9, 15^50) for it )

before I make myself look like a complete idiot, i'll just end this post right here..

Before factions came out, I sold a perfect chaos axe (10% Furious, R9, 15^50, +30hp) for only 100k+6e.

Went to cap hundred blades with henchies. Everyone had 60dp (thank God for rebirth) Made it to Rurik after a long time, and realized I needed cap.

1) Went to UW to charm spider with my guildies with my W/R. We went several times for each member. After about 5 hours, the last turn was my turn, and after the spider showed up, I tried to charm it only to find out, you guessed it, I forgot to bring Charm Animal. My guildies still won't let me forget it to this day.

2) After a farm/chest/cap run in Ring of Fire with same guildies, we stop and gab a bit. I drop the good items I had found that run on the ground to show them, a so-so gold fellblade, some kind of gold wand, and a black dye. We yak some more, and after a while we decide to enter the warp point back into Ember Light Camp. As I go to storage to put away my finds, I noticed that they aren't in my inventory anymore. I suddenly realized to my horror that I had forgotten to pick those items back up before entering town. I'm pretty sure my guildies could hear my screams even without vent.

I acidently crafted my FoW chestpiece twice the first time i went.

I was able to salvage 20 ect out of it, and get enough to make the rest of my armor in no time. but damn, that was stupid as hell

Well, I normal salvaged my first rune of SUPERIOR vigor.

but other than that, I can't think of any big mistakes...

Lets see when I first started out I sold 4 black dyes to the merchant, all for 1gold a piece, not realizing what the heck dye traders were. And I also applied 1 attribute point to each attribute when I gained a level, so like at level 10, I have 4 attributes in every attribute for my primary and secondary profession.

I used to always be selling stuff i didn't mean to to the merchant. After a while I came up with the following:

Tip: Use a quest item (eg left over jade wind orbs) as a stopper in your backpack with items you want to keep to the right of it, items you want to sell to the left. That way you can keep clicking the sell button at the merchant and since you can't sell quest items, when you get down to it you won't accidentally sell something you want to keep.

Didn't bother recovering my Factions CE Green Kuunavang mini-pet from a character I was deleting, because "it was crap".

Went on to merch the first 3 or 4 green Canthan weapons I found (not just Shing Jea).

Traded the only rune of superior vigor I ever found and spent the cash on a guild hall for my "solo" guild. Been there like 3 times in 4 months.

Salvaged many superior skill runes, before realising most of them are worth more unsalvaged.

Wondered why I was so poor, farming with a full team of henchmen...

I'm just not that bright.

1- spent over 20k just to figure out how to solo FOW with my ranger, meanwhile i hate soloing so i do it once a week

2- deleting my monk who had all the monk elites because "it was boring" just to remake a new monk 2 weeks later

3- trying to kill Shiro with a kickass Beastmaster build... with no chrm animal in it

4- farming with my guild leader, he is a Toucher and im a Mo/A. by mistake, i used recall on him when he aggroed a huge mob of wardens. instead of hoping he doesnt get striped i panik and end the enchantment only to teleport in the huge mob...

5- giving instructions over TS to a guy who wasnt on TS

last night i fired our teams catapult in VOD
i nearly killed myself you just dont realise the shame especially since we were dominating all the way. i did it coz i thought tht they might do it. so i tried to fire before it could get near the hench

never ever fire my own catapult even at 1 min into a match ever again!

Doing Dragon's Lair, With all Skills in Swordsmanship, and only a max sword... with 0 in swordsmanship... I still did it and beat Glint (good team i guess)

I sold a 100k+ectos weapon that my friend gave to me for 2k

I did Gates of Kyrta 4 times before I figured out what to do.
