No, the Ascended armor referred to in the game update notes are more commonly referred to as 15k armor.

Have never heard the term "ascended armor". If you follow the story line you will ascend before you get to Droknar's Forge where the max protection armor can be crafted at a cost of 1.5k apiece (plus materials). 15k armor can be crafted at Granite Citadel and Marhan's Grotto. It has the same stats as the Drok's armor but looks better = vanity armor.

Perhaps the OP is referring to "infused" armor? Not sure. A couple of missions after you reach Droknar's Forge (usually after you have ascended already) there is a side quest to infuse your armor. This protects you against a nasty attack the Mursaat use which normally would kill you in seconds.

One thing: in the desert, there are collectors who will give you armor whose base is AS GOOD AS Droknar's Forge AND 15k armor. Collect those pieces for free until you can afford to purchase armor you really like.

Some people have a huge bias against collector's armor... those people are the ones crying because they can't afford a simple ID kit after buying their Drok's armor.
