When you talk to a guy called Syr Prysin, you will have this combat at the arena. You will see a cutscene, showing that two years have passed. The city of Ascalon is almost in ruins. You know what? I wan't to get back, i don't wan't to be in old Ascalon anymore. Does anybody know how i can get back? I really appreciate your help!

Nope, you can't go back with that character. You can create new one if you really like. But Pre-Sear has very little to do anyway.

Your only options are to:

A.) Build a time machine.

B.) Rebuild Ascalon, make all the plants green again, shoo the Charr away, and bring everyone back to life.

C.) Start over. (The only option you have)

Heh, start over.

A lot of us find ourselves missing the beautiful scenery of pre-sear ascalon, I have made characters just so I could go back for a while and see poor little gwen before she got pwned by the char.

Yeah, currently i got a elementlist in pre-searing ascalon. I missed the good old days where there is no DP, and enemies are easier to killed.

Grind is subjective

learn this please

I don't get the big draw toward Pre-Sear. It's pretty, sure, but there are equally pretty places elsewhere in the game, and the gameplay is nothing special--feels too much like a traditional MMO for my tastes.

If I understand your question, you are asking why talk to Sir Tydus at all, to go through the academy and watch the destruction of beautiful Ascalon?

Well, it's up to you if you want to miss like 99% of the game. 'Cause that's all it is.

Anyway, I usually go post-searing around level 7-8-9. I do all the secondary profession quests before choosing a secondary, do all the other quests, maybe some hunting across the wall for fun. I usually end up leaving with at least 1.5k in my pocket, so I'm comfortable in level and money when I hit the "other side."

Pre-Searing is the tutorial for the actual game. It`s just to get you used to how it plays.

Well you have 3 more slots, so don't delete the old guy, just start a new one.

There are many good things in Post-Sear Ascalon that you wont see in Pre-Sear.

1. Storage - you get a small storage box and then 2 more bags that you can expand
2. Runes
3. Decent Weapons
4. Good Skills
5. Different Areas (Old Ascalon is in ruins, but there are mountains, jungles and forests to enjoy, just be patient)
6. The actual storyline of the game
7. PvP (although you can make an instant PvP character you will have crappy skills unless you unlock them through faction or your RP character in post-sear)
8. Missions and Quests

Like Sofonisba said you are missing about 99% of the game.

There's a lot more to do than try and do Sync Dancing in Ashford Abbey (one of the things I don't miss in pre-sear).

I have 3 characters in Post, one in Pre.

Funny thing is, the guy who is in pre was my second character. I go and stand in front of that gate at the Academy over and over, and I just cant seem to take him through.

I think if/when we get more toon slots I may just keep one of them in pre, but I can understand the reluctance to move your last one through the academy.

Too bad they don't have some pvp in pre, maybe even with no faction awarded, just like small skirmishes hell i dunno but it would be interesting.

I think a lot of people like the fact of no dp in pre maybe that is another reason.

I keep a guy in Pre. Usually just to help someone new to the game, go do quests with them etc. I do have to say there is a charm to pre-sear, but if it's his first or main character I would suggest moving on and making a second or so to keep in pre-sear for goofing off. I agree that the no DP and similar stuff makes it a nice change from harder areas.

I really like the idea of no reward pvp in pre-sear. I would also like the idea of a very small storage that is NOT linked to your post sear storage. This way you couldn't farm dyes in pre for post, or twink your pre-sear character, but it would let you keep a few things like crafting materials or dyes.
