What will go good as secondary for Ranger?

Mo/Me

I have a Mo/Me atm, only at lvl 12 though. I stopped playing GW a few months ago, but now im hooked because i quit all other MMO's. Well my Mo/Me was made as a healer only for PvP. But i want to make a Ranger.

Im not sure what would be my best choice for a secondary with Ranger. First of all, can Rangers be effective in PvP and PvE? My Mo/Me isnt effective in PvE (at least at my current lvl). Its usually hard to solo multiple mobs. Will a Ranger build be able to solo multiple mobs?

Im not asking for a build or anything, just need some advice on a secondary. From there, i will make my own build (or what i think is my own : P).

As a ranger you don't usually use your secondary, because to be a good ranger your skill bar has to have almost all ranger skills. Most people usually pick Monk as a secondary for res.

And I think they can solo a little.

/necro for rend or /mo for restore life/ressurect.

Rangers don't have much room so necros, who have few good skills, synergize well.

or Warrior for a nice attack speed boost without having to invest points into beast mastery.

Most people just randomly pick one that they think is cool.

This is because Rangers have strong enough skill sets, and demand all of the skill bar.

Some people mesmer to stick another interupt in (though Ranger's have disputably the best interupt already [distracting shot - interupts and disables for 20 seconds]).

Some go Elementalist and stick conjure [element] in - usually fire - so they can stick a few extra dmg on their feiry bowstring or kindle arrows.

Some go monk to get a good self heal. Anothers go warrior for a quick attack speed boost skill.

But mostly Ranger's stick to their own kind skill bar wise (like me).

my favorite secondary is Mesmer
works really well for many different ranger builds. Really helps to shut down a player

second would probably b ele, if u have the extra points to put into conjureelement

i made a ranger/ele and i think it is the best combo imho. i like to use meteore shower with high expertise i never run out of energy.

but like m,ost say its what you feel comfortable with, if you get it wrong dont worry you can change it later on.

I've played 'em all, and I can honestly say that ANY combination is good, and has interesting resonances. Mostly I would advise anything EXCEPT Monk or Mesmer, in your case, since you've already run those lines. This way you can unlock almost an entire new class on your way up, even if you don't use any of the skills (because, it's true, rangers do just fine with 100% ranger on their bar).

In general, I tell people to create three PvE characters using all six classes, and leave the fourth open for PvP. Once you've unlocked all six trees, your options are unlimited for PvP. (Which means, for example, were you to go R/W this time around, your next char would be a N/E or E/N).

Plan ahead.

Besides, once you're ascended you can change secondary at a whim, and be whatever you want for the rest of that character's life.

but expertise is probably one of the reasons why rangers, stay pure rangers, for pve anyway. wildnerness provides arrow buffs and self heal, marksmanship provides damage, and expertises increases your energy pool. my ranger, who was my first character to complete the game, was a pure ranger up until the fire islands, where i slapped on a conjure to do some extra elemental damage
