How long does it take you to load?
Goolick
I'm talking about when you change maps or enter missions, etc. My computer is a piece of junk and takes up to a 30 seconds to a minute or more. It's gotten to the point where I'll hit enter mission, go and get a cup of coffee, and come back to play the mission. (I kid). But I'm just interested in how bad my computer is compared to others.
Tactical-Dillusions
1-3 seconds, very rarely more than that. I play on the US servers with a 3MB connection.
Axle_Fieshe
2-3 seconds, and that with sharin a 1.5mb connection between 2 computers
my friend used to take at least a minute, and even up to 2 minutes, but he got a new computer.

Gustav Gloomp
1-5 seconds with a 512k connection and i liv in australia and play on american server.
Raz Silverwing
I feel bad for this but, half a second unless they are having server problems.
new computer+DSL=really really fast guildwars

ManadartheHealer
Around the same as above...1-5 seconds sounds about right
Eltargrim
Same as the OP. My computer doesn't like GW
Lasareth
Was same as the OPs, then I upgraded from 256k ram to 768(or something like that). Zones almost instantaneously now.
Kampfkeks
Same as Lasareth... from 256 to 512 and loading times dwindled from "ridiculous long" down to "loading... what?".
1-5 seconds with only one map taking more time to load (that PVP Druid Style Map takes 20 seconds to load... funny isn't it?)

Lasareth
Bizarre... the same map lags me as well.
Believe
As of latly 30 seconds tops but 2 patches ago 1-3 seconds.
Align
5 seconds unless the computer has been on for a while, in which case it takes 30 or so....
Diablo Paladin
half a second
Pevil Lihatuh
lol yeah, a second or two. New areas take me maybe 10 seconds if they're large new areas, otherwise still only around 5 seconds.
Stupid thing is though, this is 1mb broadband, which is usually ridiculously slow on downloads... oh well, yay for GW!

Same here, because I have a really crap p3 933 512 mb ram.
The loading bar is always at 100% in 3 seconds max, but after this my pc keep swapping and loading for 10 secs (when i just started playing), up to 1 minute after some hours playing.
Sometimes i remain for a while in a "limbo" situation between loading and ready...there is still the loading image, but i see the party window and other party members see me in game.
This can be a bit irritating when i go in uw with trapper teams and everyone start bitching at me "ew! eww! where is ewwwwwwww"...they can see me in game but i'm still loading.
p.s.: new pc incoming soon

I think RAM is one of the most determining factors here. I have 3 PCs running Guild Wars, sometimes simultaneously. Until recently, one of the computers had 256MB of RAM while the other two computers had 1GB of RAM. The load times on the computer with less RAM were simply stifling, especially when my avatar was present in-game, but my computer still showed the load screen. So I upgraded to 1GB on the slower computer--problem solved.

One issue is if you've installed the full game or if you've just installed the client and started playing. If you've just installed the client it'll stream the contents you need every time you enter a new zone, and that takes a while (perhaps a minute for me, and I've got 10MBit). If you re-visit the same zone then loading times should be one or a few seconds, tops, as you've already got the necessary files on your disk.
Loviatar
1-5 seconds
Former Ruling
I don't count - but it feels like a long time.
When I finally can move my guy, The others are usually about half the minimap's distance from me (takes about 10 seconds to catch up)

I remember at one point i was in pre-searing, and someone wanted to do the "res sig" quest. So, we join up, and this guy kept going back and forth because of my "slightly" slower entering time...
Had to exit out and get back on, no problem... but wow, was that fun for him? (Perhaps i'd understand if i like to run back and forth aimlessly)
Anyhow, about 5-9 seconds to load.

I load about 30 secs when I had started the game freshly, but after playing a while it takes up to 2 minutes. i got 256 RAM, my HDD has troble defragmenting and its impossible to do it cuz its too fregmented. BTW my best load was 5 sec when i was in the desert, and after i had used ram-freeing application about 50 times. My worse loading map is the PvP in the Denravi/Fort koga arena - i load in 1 min and i lag very much. My loading is always at 0% (except when in a completely new area) and it jumps to 100% after downloading (if necessary ) but then its the long part - i can sometimes see party window - thats when they see me as loaded - but after that i gotta wait about 10 secs to load then 15 secs to de-lag.
i'm using 512k connection.

When I had 256 about 30sec or longer. Now 768MB takes 1.00033 secs between zoning or entering missions

I don't know my specs, but my comp takes about 20- 30 seconds until I can see the game interface, but another 10secs before all the characters load on screen.
I find it best to reduce graphic settings, and stop all programs running in the background ( with the exeption of anti virus/spyware programs).

Put alittle more RAM in now - and I take about 20 secs to get in like AScalon Dist 1, and about 10-20 more to get everything right on screen in.
Instances load in about half the time.

Does RAM determine the speed of loading?
Thanks.

It takes me a long time also, I'm connected Instantaneously but it takes forever to load the Characters and map, I will see my skill bar then the party bar but everything else will take a long time, then when it does finally load I lag some.. oi, http://www.memoryx.net/3112076.html , I'm getting this for my comp and I hope that it helps but I dunno, Right now I have 256mb of installed ram so that will put me up to 768mb. I have no clue about my Internet it's DSL and I have XBL so it can't be too bad..
Malchior Devenholm
i'm bout the same as ash, cept on missions and junk-OMG tried to do ice caves-took about 30 seconds to start, but after that the group had already done so much i stood still for about a min and a half, the fact there was a minion master in the group didn't help either-I LAG LIKE CRAZY!
I got 256 MB and just about cleaned my whole comp for GW, i need more ram like crap

1G High Speed Ram (Some Silly Overclocks) AMD 64(i'd hug the on Die Memory Controller For this very reason if i could :P) everything on Highest (Higher graphics settings take longer to load) and a 2mbps Connection, about 3 seconds on the very first map loaded (with all the player models for the first time), after this, i hardly get to see the loading screen (much less than a second)
Gwmaster
how do u do to know ur connection? wen i righclick on my internet connection is sais Speed:100 mbps and the other one 400 mbps.
Lt.Crumpet
master, if it says ur speed is 100mps, thats showing your network speed. try checking it out somewhere else.
loading for me when i first boot up the game ( if its within about 5 min of booting up my PC ) can take like 10 seconds. after that its always under 2 seconds, if not under 1. i dont have any problems with it slowing down the longer iv been on. im runnin wit 512mb of RAM and a AMD 64 FX 3000+, and as i said, only have problems rite when i boot up my pc and/or GW

hmm it takes 1-3 secs to load for me, i got a 3500+ AMD Athlon processor, 1gb ram .

Too long
Actually, I have no idea, reasonably fast. However, if I'm not the first or second person of the team to have loaded, it's too long as I'm very impatient when it comes to things like that.
