need explanation: Guild Rating

I have looked and searched but haven't found anything so sorry if i missed it. But could somebody please explain to me the guild rating system? The numbers see to be somewhat random, in gvg tonight we beat two teams that were lower rank and only gained +9 and +12, but then lost to a similar rank team and lost 17 rating. You'd think that if we lost to a similar team then we wouldn't loose as much rating. You'd think they higher they are above you the less you would loose and the lower they are too you the more you would loose but that just doesn't seem to be the case.

It's kind of like the inverse of rank. It gauges how well your guild is as a guild, not strictly in comparison to other guilds.

Rank [should work] like this:

You fight:
Lower rank <-----------------------> Higher rank

If you win, you gain:
Little rating <-----------------------> High rating

If you lose, you lose:
High rating <-----------------------> Low rating

This stands to reason, as a better guild fighting a technically worse guild shouldn't gain as much as they would against a more skilled guild.

Yet if you lose to a worse guild than you, then your position should be adjusted more than if you lose to a high ranked team. It's a matter of who the favor is towards in the fight. Higher ranked teams have a higher probability of winning, so they gain less when they win and lose more when they lose to a lower ranked guild, if that makes sense...

see in the world of common sense it seems like it should work that way but, it doesn't take for example when we lost to a rank 600 team we lost 9 but when we lost to a rank 190 team we lost 17. That doesn't seem to make much sense, we were around the same rank when we lost to both team maybe a hundred or so off.
