3 (well maybe 4) ways to get rich:
1) Farm with a good solo PvE
2) Run
3) Trade
4) Buy GW money with real money

Here's a few suggestions:

1) Fight in small groups or solo. Each player (or henchman!) takes one share of the loot. So if you fight solo, you will get significantly more loot than you normally would. (Expert) salvage anything worth less than about 30-50 gold, sell everything else unless you think you might be able to sell it. Since you're an ele, your best bet for solo/smallgroup fighting is probably loading up on earth protections, minding a mob and nuking it.

2) If you like PvP, give the hall of heroes a try. If you get with a good group and win, celestial sigils run for ~30k a piece (you get them sometimes for winning) Get yourself teamspeak, and just join a group, do what they tell you, and hope for the best.

3) Start a warrior. SO easy to make money as warrior, even low level. Just solo everything in the ascalon area and salvage or sell what you find. I made 5000g with my warrior before I hit Yak's bend.

I too have had problems accumulating moola despite plenty of farming runs, etc. The problem with farming is even if you do find some decent items, you still have to sell them and typically this can take forever and you end up just cutting the price just to get rid of them.

Recently I have decided that materials are the way to go, I'm keeping an eye on trader's prices in between runs, trying to get a feel for what time would be best to sell. I just use expert salvage on any basic stuff I find, which can you lots of normal materials or some rare ones like steel and leather squares. For example I got 32 iron from 1 staff yesterday, when I have a nice pile of 250 I cant stack them in one space anymore so I offload them onto a material trader at maybe 100g for 10, thats 2500 straight off, plus I'm sitting on a good bit of steel which is worth even more. I have only just started off with this, but already I'm feeling much more confident doing this than trying to sell gold and purple items in vain, especially as now everyone wants green items instead.

Hope it helps

there are several options to getting money in this game that dont involve you buying money.

1) join small farming group
2) join group going to FoW or UW (ecto and shards going for a good price atm)
3) Best way is to salvage almsot everything and sel lthe materials to the trader when u see a good price
4) happen to get lucky and find a godly weapon or shield or staff to sell (razorstone from sorrows furnace currently sells for like 150k or near it)

Take a look at this thread. I get 2k+ every time I play 1-2 hours casually ever night because of it (casual in this sence is playing missions and quests and not actively farming).
And it doesn't really matter where you are in the game.

not to mention buying gw gold is against the EULA as far as I'm aware...

anyhoo, basically find yourself a place where your character can happily kill things easily whilst getting good drops, and spend an hour or so there every day. It'll soon mount up. And if you're really desperate, spend a lot of time there every day!

What do you mean by
"3) Best way is to salvage almsot everything and sell lthe materials to the trader when u see a good price"??

Are the prices the NPC material traders buy/sell based on PCs buy/selling to them?

the prices will vary.

example

fur squares can go from about 180g to 240g each.

if it is below 210-220g i put it in storage and check each time i go past the trader to see what the price is.

i may wait a week or more but when it hits at least 210g i sell until the price drops.

same for parchment which i hold until at least 70g each (5 wood+20g to craft)

You could wait for the price to go up, or sell the rare materials to players, I dont have a problem selling parchment to players at 100g each. Its better than waiting for the merchant to buy for 70, and if you are willing to sell for 70 then sell it to a player. Just my 2 cents.

So far patience with keys and the new chests has been a good source of money for me. I do missions and buy the appropriate keys (usually 3 keys for that mission area), I have opened 3 very nice runes and some good weaponry that I sold for quite a nice amount of money. But you do have to be patient as most chest drops are terrible.

note that collector Sedgewick gives a fur square for 4 char hides.

Pikin Square to the Deseda Lowlands zone and return after it resets is usually good for several fur squares (usually good for 1-3 plat/hour) plus whatever blues/purples you get.

bring a couple regular salvage kits for the cheap stuff like bows for wood etc. to make inventory room.

save the char carvings for wood to turn into parchment (5 wood+20g) from the crafter outside Sardelac Sanitarium

Just use a regular Salvage Kit on them. At 4g a use, 7g for wood (4g + 3g for a Carving) ain't too bad when you take 5 wood and 20g to make one roll of parchment and sell for 70g+.

what i want is the ability to salvage in quantity.

i would like to do them 25 at a time instead of one by one.

i salvage 200 at a time (8 regular kits)

Since you are an ele, I would suggest that you become an Ele/Me if you are not one already, and go with a monk or two to the UW and do 2 or 3 man farming, by doing this you should find ectos which are worth about 12k right now. And 12k per ecto aint bad

if you do not have green drops, at least you will get around 1-2K money drop with a 5 man gp
