I think botters should be banned too, but just to clarify you want resellers (i.e. people who buy / resell items for in game money) to be banned too?

No matter how you slice it. Its against the RoC to cut Arena net out of the market of their own product. and against international copyright laws to boot. So if Arenanet chooses to make an issue of it they have legal precedence to do so. I would have zero problem with this if it were ArenaNet themselves doing it as a service addition to the game. but it is not. Thus it is not legal. and not a legitimate game play option either.
I never stated that I supported buying gold, and I realised that buying in game items with real cash is a bannable offense. I am not arguing that. I simply stated that I can empathize with those who do.

You obviously missed the <sarcasm> tags. Here's the original quote:

Come on guys, It’s not that hard to understand. This is what it seemed (felt) like to me at the time that I broke down and bought some gold online...

AN: "Hey lets make drops really low and nerf all the farming spots and then tell everyone that the game doesn't require farming!"

Me: "Damn I can't get a superior rune that I actually want or is worth more than 2k to drop so that I can buy a superior rune that I actually want and I don't have 100 hours a day to spam trade channels to sell off my crap blues and no-mod purples for nominal gains! Guess I'll have to farm."

AN: "Hey we found someone farming that's not an invinci-monk or trapper in UW. NERF BAT!!!"

Me: "Damnit I've been at this forever and I think I've actually lost money. Damn grawls are stealing my gold! Man this is ridiculous!"

Friend: "I know, doesn't farming suck if you're not an invinci-monk or trapper in UW. I just bought money online. It doesn't cost much."

Me: "hmm..."

All of that said, since SF things have gotten much better for the GW economy. Nobody should really feel pressured into buying gold because their farming spots have been nerfed constantly one after another or because the drop rates are too low.

I take responsibility for breaking the EULA myself, regardless of what someone else did that was wrong. Anet fixed their end of things (crappy drops and few decent farming spots) and I’ll fix mine. If I do get banned, I’ll be back just because leveling in GW is so fast and easy and the game is just that damn good.

But it shouldn’t be so hard to understand. You either have to be completely devoid of empathy or Mother Theresa to keep going on about the evils of buying gold online.
