Advice for my Monk/Warrior Build

Hey all,

I was looking to get the best out of my Warrior/Monk. Let me first say I don’t use a sword and try to tank, I leave that to the pros. I also don’t like to engage in heavy combat, once the numbers die down I’ll get my staff going. So I like to focus 100% on the survival of my team. I am focusing on all my Monk skills excluding Smiting (unless I solo or have a unless number of free points) so I am trying to find a good Healing/Protection build. Here is a picture of my current build, and it has been going great so far, but I'm sure some greater minds could tear it down for me, so go for it.

I'll be at lvl20 by the time the sun goes down tonight

I love using Sprint, it has saved me (and that = the team) many times. Guardian (6) is a weak spell but I find Aegis a little high in price and recharge. Using Healing Breeze and Guardian gives a nice advantage, but I still feel Guardian is a weak spell. So what’s better on the spell side of preventing attacks?

Any advice on my overall build, or adive on a new build would be great.

Be cool

this is a great build for pve. protection works much better than healing. easier to prevent the dmg from happening than heal it. in pve rebirth can save your team when the occasional (usually warrior) noob decides to be hero.

i like for pve. btw get more tats. monks are not hit much in pve which why its easy. only the hench monks accually run in.

Rebirth takes all my energy, so in battle I don't like to use it, but every pro has a con I guess.

To have under 40 energy usually is due to not carrying ANY +energy items or having to much -X energy armor, like the judges pants. With +0 weapon and +12 focus, judges top and pants, the rest tats, I believe my CA monk has around 41 energy. You can get the Fire Wand outside Nolani (from collector) for a cheap +5 energy weapon or if you have a pre-removal Denravi sword. Since you use Guardian, Shielding Hands and Healing Breeze I would look into aquiring the Yakslapper. +15 energy and +20% enchanting would suit your needs.

You could go pure healer and sub in Healing Seed and Vigorous Spirit along with Heal Other for spike healing or healing touch/signet of devotion for yourself. With your low energy I recommend Signet of Devotion.

The only thing I can think to give you is my monk's skillset....

Orison, Breeze, Seed, Party, Mend Conditon, Protective Spirit, Shield of Regeneration, Rebirth

That's what I always go in using. The Mend condition is always good for random things like Blind to my warriors, so they can keep on swinging. The Protective Spirit helps keep them alive, because I will use it on one warrior and Seed on another, to not have to worry about them for a few minutes. Anyway, I hope this helps.

That’s for the advice all. I haven’t brought my final lvl20 kit and amour to max my energy yet, (also I took my weapon and Ankh out of my hands for that shot) but those suggestions will help me out. Also, for the price of 1 energy regen I’ll go back to the collectors and grab another once of these at lvl20:

+27 is a nice payoff, to be truthful I have not used anything with less energy regen, is the difference that noticeable?

Also I was looking into a build that takes out some remove Hex and Conditions spells, what do people recommend for Hex removal? (I assume Smite Hex is out, long recharge

Holy veil is probably a good choice, but you need to be able to cancel it quickly to get rid of any hexes on the target.

Other than that, for a fast cast do inspired hex (for some energy, 20 sec recharge) or if you have time on your hands go for remove hex (7 sec recharge, 2 sec cast time).

I'd say to ditch healing and smite and get a chunk in tactics. From there, you can consider using either Bonetti's Defense and/or Watch Yourself!!

Since Watch Yourself ups AL for your teammates nearby [which is the case cause you're not 20 miles away I hope], at good tactics, you'll be fine. It also serves the protect role in either case.

Bonetti's is your energy manager. In PvE, monsters go after you, they do, no questions asked. It works. Both use adrenaline which can be fed by Balthasar's Spirit [a smattering in smite is fine, no need to uber pump it] or just wanding. If nobody's in need of hp/AL upgrade, then wanding is perfectly feasible...

Yes please, energy management. You almost made my cry with those skills.. for your own sake, at least trash breeze. It's poo. Either use Watch Yourself!/Bonetti's like Yukito said, or go with a mesmer secondary, and take a long Mantra of Recall and Inspired hex.

Hybrid builds are just not feasable due to the lack of energy management. Sure, works great till you're at 0 energy. Then what? Time for rebirth? You shouldn't even need a res.
