When they say original work, do they mean you can't use the ingame characters or creatures? If they do, it would be rather lame.

They should've been more clear about that indeed

Though, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't mind.

Pretty sure they mean you can't submit SOMEONE ELSES work, ie not a photo you find on the net.
(Things like that are, unfortunately, very very common, and you can bet some assmunch is going to try it this time too.)

Yeah, probably many people will try. Though, I hope if someone does, he/she doesn't win the contest, that would be lame

The prices are pretty lame by the way. Not worth the afford
