How does one "update" GW? patches, etc...

Well, I never expected to need to ask this question, but here goes!
I've successfully installed GW from the retail CD.
I've read online reviews which mention updates and patches to the game since its release.
At the official GW web site, there is a lovely page listing "Game Updates". But it's just a text listing, and I see no organization or offering of the actual downloadable updates, expansions, or game updates.

How does one go about acquiring these updates or patches?

I have looked in several sites and forums, and am not finding the answer I expected. Thank you very much in advance for any help!

It downloads automatically when you log into the game. All of the updates you read have been free and automatic.

An expansion pack (known as Chapter 2) is not yet available, probably due out early next year--you'll have to pay for that one.
