So what technique did you use to capture the bear with a Mo/R?

I'm curious also, as the bear has charm break equiped. So how in fact did you capture it and where?

I tired in Wizard's Folly but kept getting spell break from the bear even though it was like 30 feet away.
I figure with more in fast casting I'll be able to get one too.

BTW Why do they not consider Wolves animals?

I'm skeptical about that pic. The pet has been renamed, it doesent clearly show that the bear in the pic is actually tamed and since taming a bear is, so far, undeard of I would say to post where and how you tamed this bear and provide a more conclusive screenshot.

Me and a buddy (he being a Ranger and wanted a bear) tried every different combo in pre-searing to charm a Bear. He was a primary ranger and I switched classes around. Thinking that we needed something that inturupts, (ie. Hammer bash or lighting javelin, being the only skills in pre-searing that do) but that didn't seem to work, actually nothing worked in pre-searing. Even two rangers charming at the same time. We came close, but the charm was broken every time. I'm with iczer on this one, I won't be convinced until I see a pre-searing screen shot and a detailed discription on how it was done, which no one has ever said.

As of last night I now have a pet bear, but I didn't get it in pre-searing. It's not from the same place as that pic either since there is no way anyone lower than 20 would be where i got mine.

Looking at it now that picture looks photoshop'd. WE NEED PROOF OF CAPTURE, or is this just a lame attempt to fool people

I've tried the moss spiders and it won't even let you cast the charm (target is not an animal - which I knew, but thought why not), the bears lets you cast, but they keep breaking charm, I would love to know how you can get around it, if possible.

I know you can get bears in post-searing, but you need one tough well oiled party to get you there.

I am extremely interestd in charming a bear, (14 R/Me) and would be willing to start a new char if need be for it. I talked to a senior player who says lots of people have charmed bears. But the only post on a forum that seemed credible was from a group of alpha players that say it was only possible in alpha

http://www.theamazonbasin.com/gw/for...showtopic=1076

here is another forum topic on the subject (from this forum)

lets band together and figure this out. My player name is Murial Elendil

Murial,

Give us some details! I tried as a war/mon level 6 with a buddy of mine necro/ranger level 8 for about 2 hours last night. Only twice did we get near 3/4 of the way charmed. It was interrupted by break charm before the hammer bash both times. The skill, I think, come in landing the combo of bear doing maul, war casting signet bane and then hitting him with hammer bash. Here are the instructions I was following:

P1 (Ranger / Necro or Necor / Ranger)
P2 (Hammer Warrior / Monk)

P2: Charge up adrenaline for Hammer Bash
*Find Bear*
P2: Attack bear (using a 3-5 starter hammer)
*Let bear maul once, then he will maul again after the third normal hit. It worked almost everytime this way!!*
P1: On 1st hit after 1st maul cast fainheartedness
*Wait till after the bear does third normal hit, he then pauses before maul*
P1:cast charm pet
P2:cast Bane Signet
*Bear falls down*
P2:Hit with hammer bash

This is where I think the timing is crucial!! After the bear falls down from bane signet, if you hammer bash too quickly, he wont be up all the way and it will miss. If your hammer bash is too late, he'll get one break charm in before your hammer bash lands. This is where we got 3/4 of the way and then our timiing was just barely off. If you dont wait for the after third normal hit, before/as the bear is doing maul, the bear gets up too quickly from bane signet and there is no possibility to land hammer bash before he casts break charm.

Thats what was going on with our attempts last night! I can say that 3 times, there was not a single bear left in Ascalon Pre-Sear! Too bad really, I like bears.....

If you can put some light on the subject Vladamir, I would much appreciate it! Maybe some timing sequences or something specific the bear does to coordinate the casting of tame, bane signet, and hammer bash. If my stratgey is not even right, please set me right!!

Thanks!!

Ermm i simply charmed it, first try, it succeeded.
I dont understand why people don't believe it that some people have a bear as pet, its as easy as getting a stalker.
You can get a bear south of beacons perch.

You can get a bear south of beacons perch. the problem seems that bears in pre-searing have some form of "break charm" ability/signet that they use and thus can't seem to be charmable at that time. Post-searing there seems to be no problem with this - just pre-searing.

so really.. want a bear? get it post-searing and forget it pre-searing :P

Thanks,

Nieye Well if you get one you most definately should be able to brag about it because they are hard as hell to get. The timing has to be perfect and even then you have to get lucky too. The hard part really is that you have to coordinate with the other person and without teamspeak or something it's difficult to type and use your skills at the same time. I only wish I had those little microphones that come with the collector's edition when I got mine.

Then you dont even need a mic. Plus, when he screws up, you can always go give him a smack upside the head... I swear it wasn't me who killed him.

Yea I was lucky like that cuase I had my friend on the phone but he took so long to get his timing right my arm fell asleep holding it but it was better than trying with random people I found in town seeing as I had to train them on their timing each time and then they would quit.
