sword or axe??

hello guys, i am new to tanking...but i dun wanna use Hammer (i think it makes me sleep...too slow) but i just cant realize the diffierent between sword an axe....any advantage and disadvantage?? anybody who experienced in tanking willing to help me, plz??

Axe: Raw damage, unstable damage ratio but can dish alot of damage. Its unpredictable because of the 6-28 dmg base. Also has distupting chop good for interupts.
Sword: Stable damage you will allways get decent damage all the time. Good to cause bleeding constantly with sever artery (but no good angainst the undead in PVE they are immune to bleeding flesh) Final thrust can dish alot of damage just make shure you target is nearly dead before using it as you lose all adrenaline.

I think Axe is best for PVE and sword best for PVP, but it depends on what your type of build. Axe skills are more flexable and fit more into most builds. As with swords most common is sever artery then gash to cause a deepwound, when axe you can just use dismember/Eviscerate for instant deep wound and more damage with eviscerate (elite skill)

I think this needs to be in general discussion, as this thread is for price cheking and stuff.

specifically for tanking i would go with a 3/1 axe and cyclone to build up bonettis. I mainly use axe, i prefer distruptin chop over savage slash. its all your prefence.

Axe for spike damage, Sword for even damage. Or, choose based on skills.

Don't forget Riposte, that needs a sword to work.

IF you bring a sword to PvP, you WILL get called a noob. Just telling you in advance.

I personally perfer Axe as a tank. When i tank i equip an axe with 3-1 vamp and go tank. Mobs come around me, and i use cyclone axe, ( i love that skill). It is pretty good for tanking and dealin dmg b/c ppl will always be around u while u tank. And if there are like 5 foes around u, and 1 cyclone axe = +15 life.

Dont forget to swithc to weapon set 2 when ur not fighting...
