Connection problem err=5

I am currently on day three of trying to get this game to work. I have tried a lot. When I try to creat my account and it tries to connect, the err=5, window comes up saying I cannot connect. I disabled my firewall (windows) I disabled my (norton) set up my connections to allow guild wars to connect. My internet works ifne in all other aspects.

I am running on a wireless network, which is ran by a netgear wireless router, and I have a wireless netgear adapter on my pc. I heard something about disableing port triggering or something, on port 6112. I am not sure how to do this if this is the case. Can anyone help.

I think it is pretty bad the adaptability of this game and the customer support has not been very well at all, even though there has I am sure been an overflow of people trying to get support.

Whew....okay here is the solution: Yes, disabling the port triggering on port 6112 is the solution.....you can do this by logging into your router and going to "Port forwarding/ Port triggering" option on the left hand menu under Advanced. It will then show you the ports that are forwarded, simply select the button that says triggering and it will then display the triggered ports....at which time you can uncheck the box for port 6112. Then click on apply.

These instructions are all for the Netgear 614 wireless router. Happy gaming

ever since i got guild wars i haven't touched my other games (Doom 3, CoD, CoD:UO, UT2004, etc...) so i'm not quite sure if disabling port triggering affects those multiplayer games. hopefully it doesn't...
