The skill says you gain +5 hp for every successful hit, but whenever one of my teammates drops it, I get +4 +4. What is the deal with that?

Test using a vampiric weapon with this. I think you get +4 +4 +4 in 1 hit.

If you are using a vamp bow string, then it is +5 (predatory season) and+5 (vamp).

(5+5) *.8 from reduction = 8

just my guess

could also be just a dual shot ?

Nope, normal attacks with a Sundering Axe give me +4 +4
