I was wondering (as Meteor Shower cost 25 energy AND causes exhaustio, which causes your energy to regen slower) what the REAL energy cost is of Meteor Shower?
(and other skills that cause exhaustion for that matter)
Exhaustion causes a decreased energy regen once the energy bar reaches the new, lower cap, so in effect a spell with exhaustion uses more energy per time. To answer the question, though, I'd say it basically amounts to about a -1 energy regen for some period every so often, depending on how you are fighting.
If you are stopping after every battle with the opportunity to fully regen, then exhaustion has little to no effect. If you are involved in long drawn-out battles then it can be a factor. Now if you're a Mez primary echo-nuker, I would imagine exhaustion would be a huge problem.
I find the solution to all energy problems with ele's is energy management, though. If exhaustion is hurting you, you probably need another way to keep the mana flowing anyway. There's the enchantment (forget what it is) that does the 30% energy cost reduction, which is nice, and Necro and Mez have many energy-boosting skills.
when i use it i cast it first followed by another high energy spell and then while those are doing damage i tend to sit there and cast immolate so exhaustion doesnt affect me really as its usually wore off by the time i get in another fight. and during the fight i never reach full energy so it really doesnt affect me then either. lol but then i have 76 energy to play with....
Using fire attunment, glyph or renewal (elite) and archane echo I can get off 3 meteor showers followed by two fire storms no problem. Exhaustion penalty seems to dissappear before I've regenerated my energy up to that point.
Exhaustion does NOT cause a decreased energy regen. It does reduce your maximum energy level for a period of time.
Exhaustion regens at a lower rate than your normal energy, so if you hit your new max, then you get a reduced regen rate (this is what the people above meant when they mention it reducing your regen). This isnt usually a problem as your ehaustion regenerates before your normal energy hits that limit, and so doesnt affect the spell cost; unless, of course, you cast a lot of exhaustion spells in quick succession...
Exhaustion reduces your maximum energy by 10. This can be stacked (meaning that if you cast two spells that both cause exhaustion, your maximum energy is reduced by 20). Your maximum energy regenerates at 1 pip (one per second).
