Skill Palette

I have a suggestion. How about adding skill palettes? Have more than one skill palette/bar with skills so that you can toggle from on set up to another in town.

For example a warrior will have a skill setup for when he uses an axe, sword, or a hammer. It would be nice if you had palettes that you could toggle between different skills setups you have set, similar to what you can do with weapons. Sometimes I may have to use a different strategy / skill setup for different areas.
I think it would be easier. Sometimes I would go to and area and think what skills did I use last time or sometimes it's (/doh) forgot to equip a skill. With many skills available, it would be nice if you could set palettes so that it wouldn't take much time to search and set skills from area to area.

For example, in Final Fantasy XI they had palettes for macros. You could set things for certain setups you have, so when you changed jobs/professions, it was less time consuming.

What do you guys think?

I have been bitching at AN for this same thing since BWE. Good luck!

EDIT

It would also be really great to have savable PvP skill sets too. That way you don't write down your PvP builds (or memorize them).

along the same lines, maybe have attribute points change along with those skill pallets. like i have diff attribs and skills for when i run people, then for when im doing pve and then also pvp. i think this could be a really good idea!

I went to Guildwars website and it reads "If you have suggestions for Guild Wars, we ask that you share them on one of our fansite forums."

So here's my idea. (above)

Indeed, this has been brought up in the past.

But, it's a fantastic idea.

Give me three setups, and I'll be happy.

It could be like the district bar, only visible while in town.

Throw in the ability to store different armors as well and it's a real winner!

Now would you want the armors linked to weapon sets or independent?

I think two armor sets would be enough for the majority of people. Even I don't carry more than two different configurations with me (due to inventory space).

I reckon this is pretty useless. I mean, it takes no more than, what, two minutes to change your skills and reset your attributes?

Not only would this be, in my opinion, a wasted piece of work from Arenanet's side but also a bandwidth problem. Imagine all players (atleast 1 million) having 5 or more builds on each of their characters. That's alot of data that needs to be stored right there.

To me this sounds like it's too much work and a waste of space on the Arenanet servers, for very little use.

But that's just my opinion.

Well, they have a system in place for storing weapon configurations.

Maybe finally implement macros/binds. Dear god, a bind system. That alone would make me love this game 100x more. Bind a few standard chat phrases and calls, bind a few skill configs, etc. Leave it all clientside. The binds would simply execute commands that the game knew of course. "set skillslot1 mo_purge_conditions; set skillslot2 wa_hundred_blades" etc. (those aren't real commands... yet)

They do indeed have a system for weapon configurations, but to me that too is useless in many way, except perhaps in PvP where things go a little faster.

Also, storing one shield and one weapon in 4 (I think) different places isn't really that much. But storing a whole build with skills and attributes along the way? That sounds like alot more to me.

It gets very annoying, though, when you have to do it a lot. On some of my chars, I might use 3 different builds, and use all 3 a lot. ANet obviously wanted to encourage experimentation, and eliminating those pointless refund points was a step in the right direction. Now we can change our builds as often as we want; but if you find more than one you really like, it gets very tedious changing it over and over. Any tedious part of the game that can be removed is always a good thing.

I guess it's always good for them to remove annoying things like that, but I'd rather have them work on the expansion than on this.
