Ok i have this with nearly all my mmorpgs.
When i minimise the game i cannot bring it up again. it just freezes. My whole computer freezes if i press the Windows task bar button on my keyboard by accident when im playing the game.
This is my pc specs.
Intel Pent 4,
CPU 2.90 Ghz
768MB Ram
Free Space 23.3 GB (Total size 74.4 GB)
NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 (drives are uptodate)
1mg+ Broadband.
Creative SB Live! Sound card
DirectX (up2date aswell).
If u need anymore tell me.
I can run the game fine and it is not laggy, its just annoying cas sometimes i wana check the map ect.
Nothing extreemly important but annoying.

I don't see any reason why it should be freezing up.
Does it happen to other programs when you minimize them or just games?
Windows XP Service Pack 2?
Have you checked for virusi?
When you open the windows task manager, does it say the program is not responding?
Can you open the program with Alt-Tab? (As another way of maximizing the screen.)
I figure if all else fails, disable the Windows key. You should also try and play the game in windowed mode (just pull the sides till its basically full screen) and see if it still works properly.

One thing you could do is sync you desktop refresh rate with GW...if i'm not mistaken GW's refresh rate is set @ 75hz default, if you don't know how to change your desktops rate do this...
right click your background....
go to properties....
click the settings tab....
click on tha advanced button....
depending on you system things could be different...but
click on the monitor tab and set the refresh rate to 75hz...
this may fix it
also you could set GW's to say 60, if you desktop is already running @ 60hz

5) Cant get it up at all.
I have tryed to play it in windows mode, if i say wanted to change a track on my music i can quickly do it (say 5 seconds) then if i quickly click back onto guild wars (it takes a while) but it resumes.
EDIT: Sos warr didnt see ur post, ill try that now. Btw cheers for the quick replys
EDIT 2: Warr my refresh rate is already on 75.

Try running the refresh rate at 60 and see if it helps at all. Lower the screen game resolution as well.
Just to make sure, you can get out of the game, but you can't get back in?
I've actually never tried to tab out of it yet (since I play in windowed mode due to me being chatty online), but I'll test it tonight if its not solved by then...
You have enough memory that it shouldn't cause any problems, and the CPU speed is quite decent, the video card could use an upgrade however.
I'm just wondering, but what are the settings you run the game at? If they are all maxed, the card might have to take 5 minutes to reload everything as you click on the icon to go back into the game. It might have to reload all the settings since its memory was written over by whatever is on your desktop. Everything is prebuff'd whenever you enter an area or load the game so thats why it doesn't freeze up on you when changing areas.
Try setting everything to the lowest settings, tab out, and try to reopen it. Wait a moment for it to do so.

2)I already tryed lowest setting, went and had a shower and it still was frozen. I just play it on higher now because there is no point. And i really dont think its the video card as its a good one, nothing extreemly outdated!

Ok on 75 refresh rate each, i cant minimise it at all.
On 60 refresh rate each, i can minimise it but it wont come back.

whats about your resolutions?...are they the same?

For your #1, that seems really weird. Its on the tip of my tounge as to what the problem might be but I can't remember right now. I had issues a long time ago with something like that.
And #2, the GF Ti 4200 128 AGP x8 is about 3 years old now. I bought one when it came out for $350ish range (Canadian). It is still decent for some games (used it for 3 years), but its pretty well close to its last legs for a lot of games now. Its FPS can't quite hold up for some of the new graphic intense games out there.
Can't really figure out a solution right now... Just mark the thread to send you an E-Mail reply so when my brain kicks in I'll post up a responce. Finally got work to do so its invading my thinking space. Bah.
*EndEdit*
Oh, and post up if your running the graphics at max or min. Also what type of monitor do you use? Age?

LoL, it slipped my mind last night. I'll try and see what I can find today if I rush some of this paper work.
Oh, and try to check your refresh rate with the Nvidia program.
Right click on the windows background, properties, go to the settings tab, and there should be a tab for the GeForce card in there. Click on it and it will open a sidebar on the left of the window.
There should be a refresh option somewhere in there. Override the default value and set it to 60 then try running the game. If it seems to run fine, increase the refresh rate a little more till you find your "crash" barrier.
If it doesn't help, let me know.
