The timing is really quite hard. Farming here is a lot harder than for example griffons. It's guess it's as hard as soloing FoW.
The drops are quite nice. I farmed half a day and got ~90platin. The nice thing is, because the mobs are lvl 24 they drop like 110g compared to the 70g that griffons do. I usually get like 2 purple items a run.
I tried out a few things yesterday and found a set of skills that's a lot safer. I tested a few zealot fire builds as well, but I find them a bit slow.
With these skills one run is about 2:50min.

1. sword/axe of enchanting
2. Max Staff (to finish off the last 1-2 almost dead hydras )
Devine favor : 15-16 (depends on your enchantment mod)

For me it was more about the farming challenge to be able to farm these mobs.
