Me/R

I just searched this forum, and there don't seem to be any posts for actual Me/R builds (lots of R/Me, though.) So, I decided to take some initiative and post a few with quick rundowns. Feel free to criticize - I'm only a casual player and, well, never really bothered to improve these too much once I found something that felt right, but I'm always open to ideas. Also, the attribute distributions may not be quite right, as I'm just on my little lappy right now, and can't go ingame, redistribute, and check =/ Enjoy!

The armor used in all these builds: Sleek Mask of Min.FastCast, all Mesmer Minor Runes, Rune of Vigor. Enchanters with Rogue's Boots gives base 35 energy (and looks kinda sexy.)

1. The Utility Spiker

Fast Cast 9
11 Dom
11 Illusion
9 Marksmanship

Clumsiness
Empathy
Ineptitude {E}

Concussion Shot
Arcane Conundrum

Shatter Enchantment
Hex Breaker
Ressurection Signet

(This was my first ever build. Spiked unsuspecting Warriors or Rangers with the Cl.-E.-I. combo, and closed the deal with Shatter when I could for a good hit that ignored armor. Hex Brkr. for self-defense, Conc-Arc if there were no non-casters around. Focus swapped when I needed the bow, otherwise used +10 energy staff. Ate energy fast, but worked well.)

2. The Trapperator

Fast Cast 9
Illusion 11
Inspiration 11
Wilderness Survival 9

Barbed Trap
Fragility
Summon Phantasm
Phantom Pain
Signet of Midnight {E}
Drain Enchantment
Inspired Enchantment
Ressurrection Signet

(Mostly made for fun, this proved to be effective nonetheless. Frag is cast first, then the victim is SoM'ed to prevent interruption, hit with Barbed, then Summon, then Phantom for a cover hex. Frag is usually not recast after the initial hit. Drain and Insp. E. feed the machine while removing unfriendly buffs.)

3. The Resistant Interrupter

Fast Cast 9
Illusion 11
Inspiration 10
Marksmanship 10

Leech Signet
Distracting Shot
Savage Shot
Concussion Shot
Arcane Conundrum
Physical Resistance or Elemental Resistance
Ineptitude {E}
Ressurrection Signet

(Not very creative, I know. But, Backfire - does little, Blind - hurts, but I can still function. Inep. and Resistance make me able to defend a little more, too. This is my youngest build - input certainly welcome here.)

Well, fire away, but be gentle - this is my first post on these forums

on resistant spiker you are too energy heavy. expertise reduces the energy cost of its interrupts so can go for the long haul. a mes primary cannot do this and would be reverted to waiting for energy.

instead of ranger interrupts go with mes interrupts.

Migrane
power leak
leech sig
power drain
serpents quickness
quickening zyphr
backfire
res sig

with SQ and QZ you'll have a 66% recharge on your interrupt spells. when you interrupt a spell they lose the energy for casting it. QZ will increase the energy cost making your interrupts even worse on their energy. after a power leak and constant interrupt even an ele would be drained of energy. after you have exhausted your interrupts and wait for them to recharge hit target with backfire. by the time it ends you should have another round of interrupts ready.

That's a great build, but doesn't really accomplish the idea that I had when making the Resistant Interrupter (not Spiker, that's #1) It was that it couldn't be blinded, Backfired, Ignoranced, spiked/slowly bashed to death - unless all of them were thrown on at the same time - whereas your build has severe weakness to Backfire and interruption.

Distracting Shot or Leech Signet is generically what I use when low on Energy - I find this combo to keep me up and running quite effectively, Expertise or no Expertise. Distracting Shot takes 5s to recharge, costs 5 energy (that means its instantly castable again, assuming no denial) and does what I need it to do - interrupt, and also adds 20s to their recharge as a bonus. It can also interrupt anything.

That's some build by itself, though, I'll have to try it some time.

You could drop one of the interrupts for Hex Breaker if you're that worried about Backfire.

Good idea with the Mes/R builds. I kept trying to make a beastmastery Mes/R work, but it wasn't going. I honestly never thought marksmanship would work without expertise. Trapping would be tough as nails before you actually get SoM, though, unless you're getting by on the 5 seconds that Throw Dirt gets you. You could mimic Throw Dirt by asking another mesmer with Fevered Dreams (or *gasp* Epidemic, if they're close enough) to tag your SoM victim, thus blinding a small group.

is this for pvp or pve?

if its pvp you just need to complete your job (which is interrupting) while you let your teamates take care of your weaknesses. only problem i have with ranger interrupts is they have to hit. with no favorable winds or read the winds it will most likely miss a 1-2 sec casting spell. distracting is great for res sig.

thanx for complement on my build it is quite fun.

You could just use a shortbow or a snare...Pin Down is pretty reliable if they're not sprinting and such.

High speed attacks, Energy source from distortion/spirit of failure, all damage ignores armour; when TF and IW are up you do 47 or so DPS that ignore armour; Clumsiness helps to spike a bit; itf you land the clumsiness and fury the target you can land 181 damage within a second, ignoring armour. This was the base, it probably could use some tweaking, but it delivers some damage. I actually was running it to solo and level a pet for another build I want to try, but it worked well enough for soloing (except the jade scarabs, chillblains is annoying). Anyway, pretty basic build.

Oh, don't try it in TA, you'll have your enchantment removed most likely, unless you have another player to layer a few enchantments on you - naked IW just begs for stripping.
