Petition for Private Stores
Danika Aurmar
Players of Guild Wars worldwide, are you fed up with running around town after town, district after district trying to buy or sell items and equipment?
Would you like to see a 'Private Store' feature introduced to make trading more player friendly?
If you answered yes to either of these questions please sign this petition.

If you sign, please sign using the name of one of your characters, just to provide evidence that you are actually a player of Guild Wars.

considering the auction house is already in the works....and not to mention your "private store" feature you are suggesting is VERY VERY vague:

erm. Private stores as in, anyone can set a gw character to become a private store so people passing by the area can be interested to look into the contents of the store and interact with it?
I do not agree to it - considering the amount of lag a few thousand shops would create in a town district.

Yeah then it would turn to ROSE and make lots and lots of lag in any town.

My 2 cents:
Maybe create another spot where ppl can have their shops. Not in your typical town, but maybe right outside of town or kind of like how the Guild hall is - a spot by itself. Anybody who wants to buy stuff go the "mall"!
Just my 2 cents!

i wonder why you just can't sell the stuff to the merchant and it appears in his inventory. so other ppl can buy it from the merchant.
or a system where you leave stuff at the merchant. you set a price you want
and ppl buy it from the merchant and you get the money

I've been on mmorpgs with private stores and i sign a big NO. it's horrible the lag is horrible and the spam is horrible. You stop seeing the ground from then on. The entire towns are flooded with private stores. very very annoying.
Bring on the auction house, I'm playing it on WoW and it's an awesome addition to GW. No people spamming and everything you wanted to look for in one place.

The original EverQuest had something exactly like that. You become a private store, and you could only be a private store in the "Bazaar" where everyone went to shop. It came with a special trade window that allowed you to search for items based on specified criteria.
It did NOT work very well. People had to leave their game running overnight, for several days at a time even, doing nothing with their computer. Just leaving it. People shopping had to bear the terrible lag due to so many character models on the screen at once. People would walk around despirately trying to look at the wall so their computer didn't slow down.
Really, becoming a store isn't neccessary. The waiting around and selling and such can just as easily be handled by an NPC. Imagine something along the lines of letting people shop a specific section of your storage when you're not online. Same thing, with none of the problems. This is the auction house idea implimented in World of Warcraft, and it's been suggested by GW developers that they're putting something like this in too.

Unless you have a new town just for this... /not signed.
Try to get into LA with a thousand of these lag-generators going. Ugh.

this wouldn't actually help you sell things either since you'll have as many shops as there is original traders!

Ok, fair enough.
I've never played any of those games that already have that feature, so I was unaware of the amount of lag it would create.
Thanks for not just flaming the hell out of me.
