For the record, I've not experienced any lag with GW for a long time...

This all started for me yesterday, so before I would think it could be update issues. I got the ingame delay's yesterday, and today can't get past the loading (at 100% of course), then got a NetErr=7. The thing I want to ask though involves the character select screen. The last time I tried to log in, I noticed my character I selected (ele in green dyed pyromancer armor) wearing some other ele armor dyed purple. Anyone else noticed this? I wasn't able to get into the game to confirm if it just hadn't loaded, or if my items got lost (or hopefully not hacked, as I just got a sup. vigor last night

My observations suggest strongly that this problem is not specifically an aNet network or server lag issue. Of my two PC's, my main gaming system is suffering from this, while my other is not lagging at all. I noticed my main system has auto-updates from Microsoft, but I haven't checked the install log for recent activity. Please note my specs below and respond with your similarities and differences. Here is my situation:
Problem started on Main gaming system 10/19 ~20:00 EDT during play and was not resolved by log-out/in, PC reboot, LAN & DSL router reset. Problem disappeared during play after ~30 min.
Problem reappeared on Main gaming system 10/20 ~19:00 EDT during play (after new exe d/l). Immediately switched to Laptop and problem never appeared. Laptop has never had this problem.
1) Main gaming system; P4 HT 3GHz/533 1G/RAM; Nvidia 5900/128 1600x1200 aa-off; on-board LAN 10/100 CAT5
2) Laptop; pentiumM 1.8GHz 1G/RAM; ATI ?/32 1024x768 aa-off; PCMCIA WiFi-G
* Both systems share the same DSL 1.5/128 connection. Both use the same aNet account.

Ok, I Only Quickly Scanned this thread, and couldnt see any explination..
So here goes. I will start with an example..
Say, you have 100 servers, which serve 100,000 People (1000 per server)
You have to update these servers, You take 50 Off line,.. So there is then only 50 servers, serving 100,000 people (2,000 Per server) - This will put Extream load (much more than normal) on the servers.
This is how Anet does it, When there is an update available.. They take down a percentage of thier servers, and update them... They then Send the message out to all clients "Theres a new build available" - The clients then disconnect from the old versions, and update, and connect to the new versions - There is still lag because not all servers aer in use again (yet)
Once all clients are updated and connected, they update the other servers (as they become empty)
ALSO, During this time, They have the LiveUpDate happening.. all clients are downloading the update, which will put even greater strain on some of the severs...
I Hope this made sence, and should hopefully explain why lag issues are at thier peak when theres an update available..

I doubt that it is ANet on any account. I logged on Wednesday and grouped up some guild mates. They all complained about lag, but I never saw any. We then started a mission together and one of them dropped out (comp crashed). When he came back he was still experiencing lag which resulted in him being kicked out again 30min latter with an NetError 7 or something (not sure what the exact error was, didn't seem important at the time.) Since then I have played a few times and never experienced lag.
Currently I am running Win XP sp2, last updated Friday of last week. I have 1GB Ram, Intel 3.0GHz (HT) with 800MHz FSB on the 775 chip, and ATI 9800Pro AIW.
My friend is using a 1.2GHz AMD socket A and an ATI x700
Is anyone lagging with similar specs or has not updated windows since last week? It could be a windows thing too…

I've been lagging as well. My computer is pretty much ok for the game, I never experience lag or anything like it. Since the update, as everyone, I've been lagging a lot and even disconnecting from the game. I know it is not my connection because I can still use any other program related to it. Guess all there is to do is wait.

I think some of the lagging issues may have something to do with a "tier one" ISP backbone going down: http://www.betanews.com/article/Leve...ght/1129915712.
I played that night and had horrible lag issues, as well. Next day, it was gone, so I figure the ISP fixed their problem.
