Me/E

Hi can someone give me some good mesmer pve build ideas (Preferably Mes/Ele). Most of the builds i look at are for pvp. Thx

If you are doing PvE you just take what you can get as the skills come as they are earned. Learn to use what you get, and experiement with new skills as you get them. Doing this will make you a better player as you understand your profession and the options better.

That being said is it really that much different? You will want to stop casters and / or warriors. You may have more enemies against you but they always break down to the same classes.

Did you look through the 'mesmer basics' thread up at the top?

If you want a mesmer/elementalist, keep in mind your Fast Casting, and use it! You may need to be very careful about energy supplies, but you can fully take advantage of your fire skills (very useful in pve) quickly. Water magic works well with a mesmer, too.

I find elementalist hexes to suit a mesmer better than their spells, since mesmers go after targets of opportunity (like interrupting a signet of healing) or making the target kill itself (a la empathy), etc. instead of bombarding their foes with huge and fast spells (though you can do that, as well: fast case, Arcane Echo, and all elementalist spells).

Me/E is the easy way out.. go Me/N with curses.

I guess if you just want to nuke, do something like 12 fast cast, 12 inspiration, and 12 X element. It's not that hard to come up with something.

The real fun, I think for a mesmer in PvE, is chosing spells that the monsters are too stupid to stop casting through. 2 spiteful spirits and an empathy on the same mob, maybe a chaos storm.. they're toast. It's also great fun to take something like power block for a healing boss, or simply power spike the more important spells.

Whatever you do, I'd advise taking archane echo, it gives you a lot more versatility. Say you only have one interrupt skill, and there's a monk boss ahead. You can echo that, and get two spells with only one skill on your bar.

Like Dean said, the best thing to do is to just try everything, and see how it works, and how it fits your playing style.

PvE, due to the stupidity of the mobs, u'd want Backfire. Throw in spiteful spirit for more flavour

If u do go Me/e, watch ur exhaustion - your energy supply isn't that large and exhaustion would kill u.

Another option is one I chose for my PvE mesmer/ele.

The absolute only ele skills I use are aura of restoration and glyph of lesser energy (she's lvl 14 at moment). Everything else on her skillbar is some form of domination skill (domination attirbute is lvl 12 on her btw ).
The last slot I save for ether feast as personal heal, which on some occassions I actually forego for some form of energy theft skill because with a few points in fast casting and my regeneration for energy at full 4 pips with the lesser energy glyph to offset worst cost spell, even if I run low/out on energy it's for extremely short moments. And in case you wonder...yes some dominations skill aren't picky about caster or warrior preference.

Until you are level 20, I would advise against using both classes at the same times (exception for Inspiration; which you will need if you want to survive the high cast costs of Ele spells).

Only when your character is already well fleshed out should you try combos. Me/Es are very hard to play because of the limited energy. If you do combo them, you should go for decisive Ele skills rather than endurance. Any of these combo that does not use Fast Casting is a waste; as being an Ele would have been a much better choice for that matter. For instance; except Echo Nuker or something along its lines, you should not use a Fast Casting Fire Ele as you will lack the energy to tackle a larger group. Fast Casting Air Ele are the supreme spikers and will be extremely powerful against bosses, but don't expect them to be much more useful without backing from a "battery" Necro. Fast Casting Water Ele (my build) is a very tactical build that controls the flow of the fight even better than a pure Ele Water, but it requires a lot of field awareness. Earth Eles could be viable as tanks with help from Distortion and Hexbreaker; Fast Casting would not help much there, though.

I run a Me/E, and usually do FoW/UW/SF for the xp. I usually set up as an aoe type nuker w/ Chaos storm, Fire Storm, Glyph of Lesser Energy, Glyph of Renewal [E], Backfire, Arcane Echo, Ward Melee/Element, Rez Sig. My points go 12+4 in dom, 9 in fire, 9 in earth, rest in fast casting.

This setup is geared toward nuking via Chaos Storm, which does 15 hp and -7 energy damage per second, for 10 seconds, at 16 dom. It's very effective against spellcasters b/c they would stop casting shortly due to lack of energy. The Glyph Renewal and arcane echo allows you to cast 3 CS fairly rapidly, if necessary.

The firestorm is an alternative AoE against foes that are vulnerable to fire (i.e. Ice Golems). I would also toss in the backfire on enemy monks. The ward is added in b/c I'm usually the priority target for mobs. While I could toss in Elemental or Physical resistance instead, and get 2x the AL benefit compared to a ward, the ward has a range beyone yourself and therefore, is more useful to the party, imo.
