Hello, everyone. I'm an older player (33), and I don't have as much time to spend playing as my younger counterparts. When I log on to play, I would like to make at least a little progress with the game. I've found it difficult to join a group of people who want to do some serious questing, as they have the attitude "every man for himself", or they just run around doing whatever they feel like doing. I really don't like to play that way, as I'm into helping others, and becoming part of an effective team. As you can imagine, people like me don't really fit in with the average gaming crowd.
Anyway, I would like to make some suggestions for improving solo game play. For people like me, who must resort to playing solo, it's very difficult to get anywhere because the relative strengths and skill ranges of the hireable henchmen are very weak. I've noticed that, in all the towns and outposts I've visited thus far, all the henchmen are level 3, which is very low. When I take a group of them with me out into areas like The Breach, the area beyond the Great Northern Wall, and certain areas of Old Ascalon, they don't last very long, and wind up becoming cannon fodder. So, my suggestion is this: modify the henchmen to be at least almost comparable in level and skills to the player doing the hiring. For example, my character is a level 8 Elementalist/Warrior, the henchmen should be at least between level 5-7, with a better selection of skills than their lower level counterparts. Also, modifications to the henchman AI to make them more effective and less "stupid" are most certainly needed, judging from what I've read from other player's postings. That way, people who want to play solo can do so, and expect to make progress with their time spent in the game.
I think that adjusting the henchmen system and AI would be a great help to all those out there, and I know that there are more than just me (trust me!), who are having difficulties finding solid groups of people to adventure with, and must resort to going solo. Thanks for listening!

There are better henchmen as you progress through the game.
Hench level is based on the area you are at (not the player level.) And the AI really isn't so bad once you've played with them for a little bit. You'd be surprised how smart they can act sometimes.
Once you get to Yak's Bend, you'll even have access to different character builds for your henchies. So don't worry, there's plenty more for you later on in the game.

Hey, thanks for the info. Could you please tell me where Yak's Bend is (what region, general whereabouts). Thanks!

Yaks bend is in the snowy parts of the MTs. It might be through pilkins sqaure..but not sure. Yeah he was right the further you get to places better AI henchmen do better.

Jon -
You'll get to Yak's Bend right after you finish the "Nolani Academy" mission. (That would be... the fourth mission I believe...)
