Topic I'm referring to is:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=2660
I've seen a decent amount of comments from others saying that the search feature doesn't work, which is partially true--the button at the upper right corner of the forum redirects you to the type-in box at the bottom, which in turn is currently non-functional.
It takes a bit of intiutive reasoning or just flat-out testing to see if the advanced search works, but reasoning would lead one to think that if one form doesn't work, the other won't either. This leads to a lot of duplicate topics and/or posts in the forums.
Perhaps a temporary update with the exact link of the advanced search would help cut down on these topics I myself didn't know until I read in a thread that the advanced search worked. Hopefully, informing the public in an announcement would cut back on incidents that lead to thread closure.
Thanks
Update to "Use the Search Button" topic?

or they could disable the search box and keep the advnce search link

Generally, I guess it'd be dependent on whether the site coders plan to fix the type-in box issue or not. If not, then abolishing the box is the best plan, perhaps having the search button redirect the user to the advanced search, rather than the quick-search box. If there are plans to fix the issue, placing an announcement until then would be less work.
Any of these alternatives would be good as long as they address the issue~
(or make the search link at the very top a bit bigger... I just realized it was there >_>)
