Crimson Carapace Shield - still availiable?

A recent post has brought to my attention the Crimson Carapace shield which stats are :

+45 health (in stance)
recieved damage -2 (in stance)

Apparently you can get this from a collector called Lord Dorn Lendrigan for 5 bleached shells(quite rare, but i got 5).
What i want to know is is this true? is it still possible ot get this shield?
And if so, where do i get it? some people say thirsty river, others say
Crystal Desert, and i dont even know where that is (not on my map).

The whole desert area is called the Crystal Desert.
Just like Ascalon City, Fort Ranik, Piken Square etc is referred to as Ascalon.

Ascalon -> Northern Shiverpeaks -> Kryta -> Maguuma Jungle -> Crystal Desert -> Perdition Rock.

At least thats what I think.

No. Originally, you could get the stance Crimson Carapace Shield from two locations: the one north of Thirsty River and just outside of Camp Rankor. However, with the Sorrow's Furnace update they made the one by Camp Rankor a while hexed shield. The Thirsty River collector still remains.

Bleached shells are hard to come by though. You need to kill the sand wurms, which have insane amounts of HP and armor. Their attscks also deal a hell lot of damage, even to a fully armored warrior (roughly 50ish without watch yourself, using 16AL shield and glad armor). It also knocks down when it attacks.

The spawns are random, making it a pain in the behind to get 5 of them, especially if you are using henchmen.

Is there a shield that has +45/-2 while enchanted shield? I don't use a huge amount of stances so I think this would be a lot better for me.

I don't remember where the collector is, but he has a shield with only 12 AL with +45/-2 while enchanted. But no, there is no max. The easiest way to get a max shield like that is to get Malinon's Shield.

Yeh I have that one. Mamnoon Lagoon, upper northwest section. 5 of those eyes from the windriders, i think.

Its been nerfed, its now +45 and -2 while hexed.

also u can get it for 5 frosted griffon wings just out of fort rankor in snakedance.
