Ok, after leading a group of *cough* less than intelligent *cough*
folks through Galen's quests and literally answering over 100 questions,
I've decided to pass on my expertise on these little errands.

(I use it for grinding new characters, great for going to level 3 to
20 in one night. )

This is the (From what I've found) the easiest, least stressful method
for doing all Krak Flamewhip's quests and Galen's quest

First off, make sure you talk to him prior to entering the Furnace.
This should be a no brainer, but hey.

Secondly, after talking to him and starting the quest, head down to Krak
and take the following quests:
Cold One
Gathering Resources
Unruly Slaves

You might want the extra fire...err, icepower of the Frost Golems with
you for a while, so hold off on doing Cold one for right now. Head out
past Krak into the first main room, and use them to clear it out of all
baddies. It makes things much easier later on. I use Master Gears on all
3 doors, simply for the convenience of not having to do it later. Get the
Ore out of the Ore Boxes you find, and head through the Rightmost door.
It will take you down into the jungle-ish area and towards Molachev, the
guy to kill for the Unruly Slaves quest.

(Side note: If you're losing Golems you might wanna go ahead and do
Cold One. I don't know if they drop the Ice you need if they die in melee)

It's pretty straightforward, just follow the green arrow, wax his minions,
and then take him out. He's a Ranger, and uses Melandru's Arrows as his
elite. Extra damage and bleeding, nothing too scary. Once he's dead head
back to Krak to collect your reward. Next you should probably do Cold One.

Cold One is as easy as punching yourself in the head.Head back to where
you met Krak, and there should be a path off to the left. Take it. This is where you acquire the Frost Golems by the way. Just lead them further
on to the end of the hall, and there's a forked path with enemies on both
sides. Take them out, use the Frosts as backup to clear the rightmost path
for a ways, and collect the Ore Ingots you find there. Then you won't need
them anymore. Lead the Frost Golems under any crushers you find, and let physics take it's course. Collect 5 Icechunks, double click them, and use them on Warm One. You now have a Cold One. Return it to Krak at your leisure.

By now you should have (or close to having) 10 Ore Ingots, so go talk to
Tharn Stonerift in the first large room you had to clear, and return to Krak.

Now the last 2, Wrenches in the Gears, and Fire in the Hole. The ones this
group really seemed to struggle with. Luckily they managed to live. Here's
a few pointers about how to go about it.

I'll start with Wrenches. Taking this quest will spawn 5 Rebel Spirit Keepers
in the large room. (That's why I said to clear it before taking the quest,
makes things infathomably easier) They're all monks, so they don't pose much
of a direct damage threat, but they are rather fanatical about healing and
resurrecting their losses. Interruption/shutdown is KEY here, because other-
wise, this can go on for hours. Simply focus fire on one, and kill the next.
Interrupt Resurrect when you see it being cast. Pretty easy stuff.

Last off, and arguably hardest; Fire in the Hole. Get the quest from Krak, and
head through the middle door in the large room. Time the crushers, and run
underneath them. Once you get to the end, take out the 2 patrols on the
bridge and hill, and head down and to the right. This brings you to two wood
bridges, and the Flame Djinn on the other side. Get one person, preferrably
someone with a hex or DoT spell and have them step on the bridge a ways.
The Djinn will aggro immediately, and charge towards you. Don't be a hero,
this bastard hits hard. Instead have everyone run to the 3 furnace guardians
nearby and stand literally as close to them as you can. Kite the Djinn over
to them and they will do the rest. Pretty much every hit they have does
knockdown, so the Djinn will be unable to heal or flee. Take him out, and
you're done. Head back to Krak and that's the last of his quests.

Galen's Quest; You need to visit several locations in this quest, and in doing
Kraks in the order specified you visit all of them in doing the mini quests. But
if you are missing one or two just follow the green arrow on the map, you just
need to get the area in your aggro circle and it becomes checked off.

I hope this has helped, and if you have any other questions please feel free
to post them, and I will do my best to answer them.

Regards,
Rosette

This may be a silly question, but have you done the level grinding with only henchies?

And if not, do you think it would even be possible?

i have done these quests easily with henchies. the Djin was troublesome (i just let the furnace guardians deal with it in the end)

Galen is definately doable with henchies. no matter you level.

About the quest "Cold One", from what I have seen some players become completely clueless with what to do with the ice....

Galen Trask was the easiest quest I think I have ever done. The Djinn was easy - lure it to the Furnace Guardians.

I did this first try with henchies. Wasn't hard but finding those last 2 ore was a pain.

This set of quests is definitely henchable. Hell, High Priest Alkar's is henchable if you know what you're doing.

It's even easier to run the Djinn to the crushers and stand underneath. One hit KO.

Very easy with henches. Probably easier than with a team of humans all wandering off in an unorganised mess.

Gotta say I had no issues with the Djinn whatsoever. Just fought it where I found it and it was dead pretty quick.

Once when I went to kill the Djinn, it was just floating facing against a wall there...never tried to fight at all, was an easy kill with henches.

I currently level my new chars from lvl 2 - 15 via Augury griffin runs before ascension. I think I only average 20 - 25k XP per hour, and it's very boring.

I have never bothered questing in SF, but the idea of leveling from lvl 3 to 20 via SF quests has sparked my interest. Any idea what the average XP per hour would be gained from doing these quests? Are all of these quests 100% repeatable?

Rosette, thanks so much for the walk-through! I'm going to try my first SF quests tonight!

My petite N/R has done all but the HIgh Priest quest with henchies. I've even cleared SF completely twice

A cautionary note: Taking the following quest may cause addtional MOBS to spawn.
One thing you might want to do is takae on the quest to find Tasca's stuff.
The chests with his items only appear if you have the quest in your log.

Not to ruin anything but there are 3 of the chests in the jungle room.

Another one to take is the political one from the dwarf in the 2nd room. YOu have to take out 5 bosses and since your clearing the room anyway.....
I think the dwarfs name is Thrack, and he is on the hill near the rez point in the second room.

With regards to XP/hour, I find it takes around 20 minutes to complete Galen Trask with my W/E (and similar for my N/Me). Flamewhip's 5 tasks are all 1,500 XP, totalling 7,500, and Galen gives 2K for finishing his quest, totalling 9,500XP, and I'm sure you get nearly 500XP just for kills as you wander around (24XP/kill, 21 kills, about right...) which amounts to 10K XP in 20 minutes, so around 30,000XP / hour (or more importantly 2 skill points/hour )

Great tip on the clearing of the belly first...

My usual pattern is Belly -> Spirit Keepers -> Flame Djinn -> Molachev -> Summit Slaves (the one where Alakars quest is) -> back to Belly -> Cold One -> back to Belly -> collect all rewards

The only problem with Galen is after an hour or two, it get's rather dull

I got this one done last night, here are a couple of things I found.
If the Ice Golems die in Melee combat they do not drop "ice" they only drop
"ice" when crushed by the crushers, I think you need 6 pieces of ice.

You do not have to take or complete the "Fire in the hole quest" to complete
Galen Trask's quest, I did so much exploring before I went and took the quest
that I had it done, so I went up to Galen at the top and clicked on him and
completed it and then came back to Krack and accepted the "Fire in the Hole",
went down and used the Furnace Guardian trick to finish the Djinn off.

Another trick I used was shooting the bad guys thru the gates, works good, and
also opened one of the gates, went down and aggroed the baddies, had them follow
me up to the gate and then closed the gate, when I did this I accidentally trapped
the henchie warriors in with the baddies and we just mowed em down, because the
healers were on the safe side not getting hit and just keep healing the warriors,
was very funny.

Thanks for the guide, I just ran it through really quick with henchies.

For the Fire in the Hole quest instead of running through the crushers you can just take the SE path through from the main room (left door).

I've got a problem:

I've successfully done each of the four sub-quests with henchies, and without too much trouble. But now, I'm on the Flame Djinn, and as hard as i try it wont follow me to the furnace guardians! Any reasons why it doesn't?

The Djinn isn't terribly difficult to kill just where he is, as long you don't let him fly around you. His little spell thing does some damage, but if you just keep wailing on him he'll fall pretty quickly. I kinda want to try to finish him off with traps...That would be cool to see. ^_^

the djinn was THE simplest enemy to defeat. it's simple; his attack deals damage like an AOE spell, but the damage gets spread out if there are more enemies around him. last time i checked the Djinn deals 400 damage per spell, but if your party is surrounding him then everyone will take 50 damage each. nothing to be scared about. my hench group cleaned the Djinn in less than 2 minutes.....the hardest quest for me was the ore collector...since i couldn't find all those ore boxes. :P

The Djinn does not follow yo uto the Guardians or anywhere else, it's really difficult to lure him, he will turn back always at some point. Either that or you have to take a lot of slaps from him to lure him really slowly so that he doesnt run away.

This may be because of the henchmen though (when I tried).
