Whats the best proffesion(s)?
Legolas Ravenwood
I have a Ranger/Elementalist and its ok, but not very exciting! I also have a Warrior/Monk but thats... too simple .
I am thinking of a Necromancer. I like the idea of stealing health off the enemy for yourself ! Because it steals health I wouldn't need to be a monk
So... what would be the best profession to go with my Necro?

Necro...one of two things in my opinion...something with protection and healing, as well as offensive attacks...maybe you might need a monk cause some necro spells need some health sacrifice, like curse spells, and stuff like orison of healing is quite helpful in those situations....or mesmer cause that will leech off energy, like inspiration magic, helping you to lauch a string of spells by constantly absorbing mana and not allowing you to run out...dunno....I'd decide between those two if I was in your situation.

Hmmmmmmmmz
I think Ill go with Mesmer, since I havent tried it yet
Also, will I get all the mesmer skills or just some of them?

In the beginning, you'll get a few, but its quite a bit to sustain you in pre-sear. Don't worry, you get energy draining skills as well as damage dealing ones related to mesmers. In post though, you'll have to obtain them through skill trainers and quests i think. For a more professional opinion, ask a member who is a mesmer, cause I have only that as a secondary profession, probably like you.

I had an idea! What about Necro with no second profession? That way i can concentrate on just Necro skills. Or is that just noobish ?

thas really not a bad idea... and not neccesarily noobish, just lazy.

You are forced to choose a secondary before you leave pre-sear.

Really, any profession could go with your necromancer. It all depends on your preference and your style.
A necro/warrior can use all the badass necro-skills like raising minions and such while keeping his energy up with Soul Reaping, while at the same time keep alive with the very good warrior skills, especially from the Tactic's line. Bonetti's, Healing Signet and "Watch Yourself" are good examples.
A necro/ranger will use all his minions to keep the enemy in one place, while launching poison arrows at them or using spirits to aid your minions. The problem here is that you'd have to change weapons often; not fun.
The necro/monk is simply good for keeping yourself and your minions alive. A tough call since you'll most likely have a problem with energy reserves. But still, with that role you can become a team healer at any time, which is always welcome.
The necro/elementalist is much like the necro/ranger. Let your minions take the damage while you throw all your stuff at the foes. This is good, since the elementalist has many area of effect spells, especially in the Fire line. However, many elementalist spells are very costly, and you probably won't have enough energy to launch very many Meteor Showers.
Personally, if I were to make the ultimate Necromancer, I'd probably go elementalist/necromancer. Since the main attribute of the Necromancer, Soul Reaping, isn't tied to any skills, it's expendable. When you throw away that attribute by being a secondary necro, you get the Energy Storage attribute instead. This one is great for keeping up your energy so the dangerously costly fire and minion spells won't be that big a problem. Also, Energy Storage is linked to useful energy management skills from the Elementalists, so I don't think you'll have a that big a problem with energy with this type of necro.
The drawback, as I see it, is that you have to use elementalist armor and elementalist looks. First of all, most elementalist faces and hair styled don't go very well with the "Lord of Darkness"-look and second, using elementalist armor will prevent you from being able to boost your necro attributes with runes. What I would do here, would be to get Energy Storage to a high level, Death Magic to a high level and then get either Fire Magic or Blood magic to around 8. Getting Fire Magic to 8 will give you attack skills, while getting Blood Magic to level 8 will give you a way of healing yourself. The good thing here would be to get Energy Storage runes, so that you have points for Death and Blood/Fire at the same time.
It's your call, but I would probably go Ele/necro.

i started three weeks ago and i made that excact combo, necro and mesmer and it works great! mesmers have some skills that take life and they also make enemys slower and that shi.t so you steal even more health and are kind of protected in some way
Retribution X
You forgot the ending on that post, "I like ressing 10 month old threads"
But anyway, N/Me is my fav combo too.
