Ye Old City Tavrens?
johnnylange
I want to know if you think Guild Wars should add city Tavrens for a future expansion pak? In addition to city tavrens you would be able to brew your beer or wine, and sale it, drink it, or perhaps store it for later use or whatever. Considering that Guild Wars is a "medieval style" game I think it could fit in nicely. Although we might wind up with a bunch of drunken idiots running around...
Edit: LMAO! The reason would be for additional revenue.

Eh.. I don't see the point. I've already got enough problems with completely 100% sober kiddys running around spamming in caps putting mistakes on purpose to pretend they are drunk in real life.
This will only provoke them.

Wait... what?
That makes no sense. What would putting in taverns accomplish?
And why is medieval style in qoutation marks?
EDIT: And if everyone could brew their own beer, why would anyone want to buy it from you? Besides, even if there were limited brewers, no one would really want to buy it, because it serves no purpose.

Taverns would suit roleplay-minded players nicely... a cozy place to sit back and yammer in-character, without the jolting, anti-immersive metagame spam of the regular city gathering zones.

Without the wierd brewing piece a chat only type outpost which in effect would be a tavern or whatever reachable directly off the major cities would be a nice feature.

Although, I would have to say that the emotes such as dancing, drums, flute, etc...serve about as much of the same purpose as if they were to add a bar later on Do u really need people dancing, playing rock, paper, scissors, and pretending like they're in a rock band? No, not really.
But to those of you who say there is no purpose for having a bar and brewery are absoulty right! We don't need a bar and a brewery where people can bar-chat and stagger around. In fact nor do we need to have guild capes, guild halls, dyes, and maybe some other things that doesn't serve a geniune purpose!
However, not having these things in the game really takes away from it doesn't it? Sure it does! In fact i'll admit that I laugh when I see a group of people dancing, playing games, and jamming like there's no tomorrow. (sometimes I even join in ) Now if you were to add staggering drunk characters into the mix you could almost have a 3 ring circus! Now, if they hadn't added all those emotes originally into the game, do you think anyone would be suggesting now? I'd highly doubt it...
So the main point is, is while there are plently of things in this game that don't serve any real purpose to the game itself, these are things that bring more options, character, and life to Guild Wars. If they happened to take out these meaningless things now, i'm sure they would be sorely missed by most of us.
So does my comment serve a purpose now or am I just typing out a bunch of meaningless words?
PS. About the quotes...I just have a habit of doing that. Sort of like "the man", named "Dan", that "lives in a van", "down by the river."

Make a tavern!
Good way for roleplayers to chill. Have cool minigames. Checkers, arm-wrestling, etc. Better than standing around a fountain.
It's a good idea to have non-combat activities that are somehow rewarding

A tavern would rock. There are many possibilities in this idea, not just the ones you have mentioned. But a checkers mini-game would rock...
And, if beer served no other purpose besides blurring vision and making you stumble around, maybe you could just put it on your "tab". That way, no real money is involved...
But would there be barfights? Would there be darts? The minigame possiblities are endless! See who can throw a dart at the target when their BAC is like .3!

I like this idea, basically having mini-games would allow us to break away from same old fighting all the time.
The game has a wonderful PvP system at the moment, why not add other options besides PvP?

Maybe you could let individuals or Guilds own taverns
I think the idea to let people hang around in character in areas that are a bit of a laugh/fun is a great idea, but im thinking maybe with Guild Wars the whole roleplay thing you see in other games could be taken to a new level?
Why not let Guild Halls be accessible to non guild players, and be able to customise them in some way? A tavern in a Guild Hall where you could have pvp duels with non guild members, decorate in certain ways from templates perhaps, play fun mini games, or display equipment for sale ala Morrowind would be nice.
I think Guild halls rather than just being meeting places for guilds and things to fight over in GvG should also be a place in Guild Wars where people can have fun, roleplay, mess around and generally be allowed to be creative within the possibilities of the game.
Maybe certain guilds could host once a month discos Or elementalist dominate guilds could have cauldrons and ritual areas. Maybe, for fun, there could be certain skills/spells that only work in guild halls and exist only for the look. Such as necro themed halls enabling necromancers to summon all kinds of horrifying tormented creatures and effects, for no other reason than just to look at and watch with friends, maybe attack and fight if thats possible.
It would add to the lore, imo, if RP guilds could invite friends over and do stuff like that, just to roleplay. 'I summoned Balthazaar last night, boy was he annoyed, you shoulda seen what he did to the bar'

A Tavern is a great opportunity for a more social setting than the way the game is now. General carousing, merrymaking, and wenching.
Well, maybe not wenching. In any case, the game already has the potential for greater social interaction and that's not a bad thing.
Oh and if you can find a way to put to use the idea of "/roll #" in a game, that would be cool too.
